Egzo the Artkemyst (part 6) : In the studio - Lightpainting on Hive

Hi Hive!

Mid-november, Egzo the Artkemyst came in Nantes straight from the French West Indies (where my roots are) to spent a couple of days with me before moving to Paris. It's always special when we meet : it was were we were living both in Paris, and it's still the same now, whatever the distance between us.

Egzo is about to drop a new musical album so he wanted to produce visual content with me, using lightpainting and infrared photography.

As I joined an artistic collective in late october, I suggested Egzo to do our first session fo the week-end break in a studio. I've been doing lightpainting for 12 years and I never had my own studio. When a local artist offered me to have my spot in a former car garage, I was looking forward to have my keys and finally have the chance to do a lot of things that I cannot do outdoor.
Unfortunately, situation became ugly really quick with this collective and I had to leave suddently in december. I had no time to paint the whole room in black and settle in a proper way. One day, I'll get my own place without anyone to bother me...

As you can see, the background is visible and it ruins the final result but I like those pictures anyway.

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
