Graduation party 🥳🎉 🎓

This is one of those unusual celebration I have in my life, it was a graduation party for my fellow "classmate" of the physiotherapy SSG (now only I know there's a name for my class, abbreviation of Stroke Support Group).

My usual physiotherapy day I will drive to my cousin's house, leave the car there and take a train to town. Because her house is very near to the Rapid(it's our localized transit system that somehow resemble Metro around the world).

This part of the town has a few semi government funded Chinese School. Therefore, easily in the morning, the train system is usually packed up consisting of school kids and office goer.

Ever since I had my condition walking with a stick, I usually positioned myself at the most front part of the train, and if the crowd is too great, I will be right at the back of the train.

The train station heading to the hospital is probably one of the largest one in Kuala Lumpur. It is a multi level underground facility that brached out towards several other important exits. You gotta get your bearing right before you even exit from here, or you'll end up at a different destination, that on the ground you'll requires to cross a 6 lane freeway.

The Starbucks at the hospital has only 1 table inside the restaurant. The rest of the tables are outdoor. I usually sit inside, but not this time. There's 2 young man sitting there gliding through their phones, so I send myself off, hiding beside the pedestrian bridge. It's less sunny there and it's a good spot for eating eyes cream when young nurses coming out from the under bridge tunnel. So far none 🤣

I was originally anticipating a final exam from the hospital, but then they throw a party instead. Not exactly a huge one, but it's a big surprise. I didn't take any of those Kueh, and the tea was too sweet for my liking. But I am glad my classmates are making a killing for it. They can have my portion as well since I already had my breakfast in Starbucks.

They don't allow students to take pictures in the physio class, but I had to. I need to save these moments and remembering it for a long long time. I will be missing these heavily used, old yet functional machines. It's my regret that I haven't used the "sky walk" threadmill before. The last time I was on a baby walker, that was more than 40 years ago 🤣

And then came the Temu owl mini blaster. The music is so loud that render the entire party young and lively.

I was waiting for the therapists to start singing for us, but they didn't. Instead, we did some group exercises, playing some games, a short speech by the chief, another speech by the teachers, and ofcourse the very touching student's sharing session how Stroke affecting their life.

Before we realized it, it was noon and class dismissed for one last time. No, many of us are NOT ready yet, but that's where the new journey begin. From there, we're on our own. We will be using what we've learnt from the physio class and continue our recovery journey.

What a memorable way to end your physiotherapy journey! I can imagine how surprising it was to arrive expecting another therapy session and instead find a graduation celebration waiting for you. It was nice to read about the friendships you built, your daily routine of taking the train, and the little moments that made this experience special, from your Starbucks stop to the fun games and emotional sharing session. Recovery is never easy, but you've come a long way, and I hope this new chapter brings even more strength, confidence, and continued progress. Wishing you all the best on your journey ahead! 💙

Thank you very much. I felt it's easier to have friends practicing along the way. Sometimes it's a competition we needed, seeing another person progress became my motivation. I am already used to seeing this people "next time" so we are expecting each other to make some progress when we meet again. Every good things comes to an end.

IT's tragic that this is part of your life now but you are making the best of it. Those train terminals are extremely clean! I am impressed with that.

True that, tragically I need to have therapy which I preferred not. And tragically, just when I accepted to have this bunch of new friends, it ended 🥲 from now on, we're on our own.

My father goes there for physio too! But it's for knee issues. I didn't know they do such 'graduations' at the end of the final physio sessions. Seems like a long journey but also the beginning of another.

Probably different classes as our class was fixed on Tuesday 9am. I do believe there are other classes at different time.
