A short visit and price survey at the Subang Airport

One of the most affordable aviator experience in Malaysia, is probably here in Subang domestic airport.

This airport was once an international airport of Malaysia like 40 years ago. My sister departed from here and went study abroad. It does bring back a ton of memories.

A turboprop Malindo air flown in just in time when I was at the observation deck. Still hard to imagine how they put down a Boeing 747 jumbo jet here back into the days.

Just like any other kid, the famous movie Top Gun back in the 80s has a serious influence on me. I told myself even if I can't fly the F14, I'll have to at least fly a 747.

Compare to 40 years ago, things changed a lot. Since it's domestic, we no longer have duty free shops. Most of the shops are now convenient shops, or eatery.

Went and visit the aviation academy. The sim room also equipped with a live size cabin of an Airbus 320. Will be perfect if they close the gap between the panels so we won't see the screen behind the window.

Taking a tour at the full scale cockpit. I'm seriously impressed by the equipment. I'm glad the person in charge allow me to take photo of it, and that's the whole purpose of the visitation. I wanted to bring the kids for a life time experience.

After the academy tour, I'm out and continue strolling around the first floor. Used to be a lot busier with other airline companies, but there's only a few domestic operator now, therefore first floor is only half occupied.

The building is well maintained, I'm impressed it's still doesn't look dated. Perhaps LED lights make everything looks new.

The ATC tower used to be the icon. Remember the tower fly by request? Only those who grew up in the 80s will think it's ok to commit such air traffic offense and the authority will be cool with it 🤣
I have my YouTube subscribed to #74gear and #mentourpilot in my car. I also finished all the series of #mayday and #aircrashdisaster. I can't be categorized as an aviation geek, but I do love aviation stuff.
Subang Airport is my first airport experience. Imagine, almost 40 years ago, travel by air is for the rich. Going to the airport is a lavish thing to do. Back in the days, people probably haven't ride a plane in their lifetime. I was so proud to tell my friends I went to the airport and send my sister to Oz in an airplane.
I've noticed there's a simulator experience here 2 years ago. I haven't got a chance to ask question nor taking a tour as I was busy with work. This time, I've got a very good opportunity, have an academy tour by flight simulator instructor Captain Faizal, listened to the explanation and have a quick peek into the aviation experience.
With this first step, I'm committed to bring the kids over and try to have a flight experience, let them enjoy the environment. Who knows they want to be a pilot someday? Even if not, what's wrong with learning how to lower the god damn landing gear for the plane? Might just going to be handy 🤣
