the Living and the Dead

IMG_0469.jpeg

We encountered this gnarly tree stump, just a sittin up top here at Wycliffe Butte. I wonder how it came to be this way? A lightning strike, drought; who knows really, but it did look pretty cool. I did enjoy and appreciate the many tall trees on this particular adventure, both the living and the dead. There is beauty to be found in everything, you just have to go out and find it. Photos captured last June in East Kootenay, British Columbia, Canada. Thanks for stopping by.

The tree stump is really cool and unique, it looks like a natural statue designed by time.

Yes, designed by time -- good way to say it.

That is a photographers dream, what a cool sight that old stump is! There is beauty even in the deterioration of an old tree that has been dead for many years. Dead trees have their own allure, but do lack the green and pine smell of living ones. Plus, I love the sound of the wind gently blowing through the pines!

The monochrome seems to work well with the deceased ones though, somehow it's kind of fitting to bring out their details. What a cool find at the top of the butte! When to you head out for Banff?

I'll take the living over the dead any day. Love that pine smell!
The Banff trip is off for now, as the weather isn't going to cooperate this time around. Will probably just do some things closer to home.
