Paint Pots

In yesterday’s post I mused and pondered if it was to be worthwhile or not going to see the Paint Pots. Well, after seeing the vivid orangish, yellowish and brownish colours on display, I was like yeah! Totally worth it. It only took about 20 minutes or so to walk in, with pretty much zero elevation gain. Super easy hike for some amazing scenery!! Located just off the 93 South highway, inside Kootenay National Park. Highly recommended if you ever find yourself in the area.

This one I like this color version more than the black and white.
does it have orange color because of the zinc element that is found in the water?
my well at home is having almost the same situation, it turns orange when it stay in the tank.

It is the iron oxide in the ground, as far as I know. Thanks

Lol the B+W photos made me think that this would be a hard one for people to believe back in the day when you developed your photos and tried to convince them that this is a colorful area! But damn, it's pretty! Do you know if the color is biological or geological in nature?

Yeah, I can see how it would have been a problem back in the day. Big problem. The colour comes from the iron oxide in the ground.
