Mountain Close-Ups

Out here in Banff National Park, we have a lot of mountains. Some of the tallest mountains in all the Canadian Rockies actually. Here are a few samples from around Lake Minnewanka. In the first photo we have Cascade mountain, which is one of Banff’s most famous, not this particular angle, but the angle as seen from Banff ave in the town of Banff. In the second photo we have the west end of Mount Rundle, which is so long, it is almost its own Mountain range, spanning 12 kilometres or so. Thanks for stopping by.

The black and white photography here is the best!!!

I think it's the snowy tops that makes it so serene in black and white...

Love this 🏔️!

Really lovely photos. I love mountains! I grew up in Oregon, with a view of Mt. Hood out to the east. And I loved traveling to the Cascades. Now I live in Minnesota where we have no mountains at all. I miss them!

I will check out the Color / Black and White Community!

The view is beautiful and the atmosphere looks very peaceful, the snow-capped mountains towering high decorated by dense forests.

Do people snow there? They look so savage and attracting!

No snowboarding on this mountain, but there is one beside it which is popular with the locals.

Banff has been on my bucket list for years, can't wait to visit! I love Black and White Landscape photography. Ansel Adams is one of my favorites. His Yosemite pictures are iconic.

Yes Ansel Adams was my original inspiration for black & white photography. Thanks for stopping by.

Lovely shots. The iPhone 16 is living up to the hype and expectations. I saw that house built by the road in the 3rd colored picture, I was concerned because if there was snow the blizzard might be dangerous for the people living there.

Actually it may be even closed for part of the winter. Mountain roads can be overrun with snow most definitely.

Exactly my thoughts: the road can get rough in winter

I love that first picture with the close up on the mountain, that's gorgeous! It kind of has that feel of stratification, you see it even better in the mono. Very cool! Where to this coming weekend?

Nothing major planned for this weekend, but somewhere in British Columbia coming up in June!
