Leaving New Castle Island
(Edited)

After spending about 3 hours on the island, it was time to return to the bigger Vancouver Island. (It is sort of peculiar that we travelled from a big island to a smaller island and back!) We didn’t actually complete the hike around the island as planned, but we had as much fun as we could anyways (considering the circumstances). One thing that sticks out on New Castle island, as well as Vancouver island; and the coast of British Columbia is the abundant Totem poles. Very interesting tall sculptures made of Cedar trees for the most part. These totems symbolize indigenous history, culture and mythology of local tribes. Thanks for stopping by.

This looks cool! It’s very attractive to the eyes of people passing by.
Yes it does catch the eye, not something you see everyday.
I agree! Have fun and looking forward to your next adventure post. 🤗
Wonderful picture, especially of that tree which was very ancient. But now it has been cut down.
Yeah, on display for everyone to see now. Thanks.

The totem poles on New Castle Island looked really amazing.I really like photography a lot, but I don’t have the skill to take good pictures. Your photography makes me very happy. One day, I will also become a photographer like you.
Well appreciate the compliments.
i have always seen those poles in movies or pictures, it would feel strange to see them in real life... a memory of an exterminated people
Well likely the tribe that is associated with the pole is likely still around, but I don't know any details.
100% AWESOME abstract+nature B&W shot @daveks friend!!!

Greetings,
The totem poles look taller than I fought when I saw the photos.
It is interesting to learn more about the cultural context in your article.
Thanks
Yes they can be very tall in fact. Unusual pieces of history.
Thank you
