iPhone 16 Pro

This is magnificent Cascade Mountain, as seen from Lake Minnewanka area. As you can see, there is still tons of snow on the mountainside. Soon this snow will disappear, but some of the snow at the very top will remain — year-round. So on this trip out to Banff, it was my first real experience using the new IPhone 16 Pro, instead of the Huawei P40 Pro. So the big question is, what do you think? This is my first iPhone since the “6”, its been a long time right. Anyways, thought I’d give the iPhone a chance, after such a long time. Time will tell if it was the right decision. I still have the Huawei to switch back to at anytime if I so choose. Thanks for stopping by.

The view is very beautiful, sharp and dramatic, especially at the peak where there is the remains of eternal snow.

Hmm the photo quality looks almost the same as Huawei, use whatever suits you better

I have the 15 Pro Max since a while and the camera has its flaws, but overall quite decent, and natural colors (compared to the somewhat exaggerated ones from the Asian phones). Will probably switch to 17 Pro Max once it is out (and the camera is improved).
I like colors more, b&w only for some specific settings like streets/architecture or portraits.

You are right, the Huawei did exaggerate colours somewhat. If I continue to enjoy working with the iPhone, I may get the 17 when it releases this fall.

I recently got myself a 16 PRO max, first iPhone I have had. The camera is great for a phone. Still using my Nikon mirrorless for real photography 😅

Do you find it sort of heavy? I still always bring along my A7R for real photography as well.

Yeah, for sure, the heaviest phone I have had.

If they can lighten it up for the 17, I may go for it.

The pictures are stunning, However, I think you should do a side by side comparison of the the two phones, maybe in the next post. Take the same pictures with the two phones and compare how they look. This will give you an evidence of which photos are better.

That would be a good idea, I should have done that actually. I will plan on doing that when out and about soon. Thanks as always for your input.

There is a slight improvement in the perceptible definition of details, I've noticed that these days. But what I liked the most of these recent photos you are taking with your iPhone 16 pro is the frequent use of 3:4 vertical ratio and how you decide to compose using it, there is really eloquence everywhere in the photos like this (like in the first one of that post, which I prefer in B&W of course! 😀) I enjoy photos in #Hive daily on my PC, and 3:4 it's one of my favorite aspect ratios!... Applause as always for your work @daveks friend!

Yes, most of these were taken with 3:4. I like it but I will try something wider next time and then compare. Appreciate the always detailed comments you make!

I like the pictures it captured, it looks like a great option. The big advantage is you have a couple of good options to work with now. How did you feel with the performance of the 16? Was it easy to use and to adjust in the light room?

Basically the same with either in Lightroom. I am used to using the "cheese" shutter on the Huawei, which automatically snaps when I say that, but the iPhone does not have that, at least until I added it using some if/then automation commands!

The picture is so good, I could breathe the crisp air through it 😂
I love the depth the B&W image brings to the mountains!
