Going, Going, Gone

DSC06107.jpeg

Look who I found on the hiking trail! If anyone can tell me what type of bird this is, please do share. As soon as I saw him, I whipped out the camera, and as time is of the essence when shooting wildlife (especially birds), had to act quickly. Managed to get three fast photos. As you can see in the third photo, he was starting to take flight, I wish I had time to adjust the shutter speed, but no such luck. I included the photo anyways, even though it was out of focus. Looks sort of neat, don’t you think? Photos taken along the Larch Valley hiking descent, Banff National Park, Alberta.

It is a Canada Jay. I have never seen one, except in photo in the Feathered Friends Community!

Oh, thanks for letting me know. I love seeing birds, just don't know much about all the different species.

I know 'my' birds pretty well.
When I get outside of Wisconsin and the Midwest there are some that baffle me. And take me down into Mexico and the Caribbean and I am totally lost!

What was the shutter speed used in the last photo?

It is slow for bird photography, however you got a nice effect in that photo: "multiple wings".

Yeah, if I had more time then I would have raised the shutter speed, but it was move quick or lose the shot.

That last shot is so angelic.
I don't think we have these types of birds around here.

I thought it was a Quail or a woodpecker, but it seems you've gotten the right answer there. The shot of the bird in flight is beautiful. It's always tricky to capture a bird in full flight.

That is true. Next time I’ll see if I can jack up the shutter speed if possible.

Oh yay it's a corvid!!!! Thanks @melinda010100 for knowing that! Their faces look so tiny compared to the jays I'm used to.

What is a corvid anyhow?

It's the bird family that includes jays, magpies, jackdaws, rooks, ravens, and....crows!

Ana's shot is so beautiful this time, in my area there are no birds like this, and one object that I haven't had time to photograph myself is a bird because it would be so difficult to get a good time

Wow, a beautiful creature!... Good photos, lovely blurred backgrounds!... Despite the rush of the capture, that Canada Jay (I saw the ID in the friend @melinda010100 comment, I didn't know it) look beautiful!...

Wow!! Your pics are awesome🤩. I am on the verge of switching, although I have been with Canon for years and today they have very good cameras and lenses, but I feel that Canon have increasingly closed in on their niche market and the high end lens are extremely expensive. From what I have been seeing Sony has positioned itself very well in the market by creating very good hybrid cameras at better prices. So I'm between the Sony A7R III or the Sony Alpha a7II. Based on your experience with the A7R, would you recommend it? What pros and cons do you see for it? Best regards!

It is very interesting to photograph colorful birds while hiking, especially in such impressive places as the Larch Valley, Banff National Park, Alberta. Interesting shots brother @daveks I wish you success and always grateful for your visits to my publications, today I made a reference to a fried fish meal, which is very typical of the beaches of the city of Cumaná. successes.
