Glacially Fed
Man I just love this river. This is the Kootenay river. Looking at it from this angle really brought out the colours, the turquoise in particular. As I have mentioned plenty in the past, the colour comes from the light reflecting off the suspended rock powder in the water. Very typical of a glacially fed river. Never tire off this kind of natural beauty. This is one of the reasons I return time after time to experience this beauty first hand. Maybe I should move a little closer?! I miss living in the mountains. Thanks for stopping by.

STOPIt's the first time I'm hearing that a river's color can come from a secondary source. No doubt, it's a very beautiful place, and it looks so magical when the weather is just right for taking pictures

What a gorgeous river! I love the turquoise you see in those glacially fed rivers and lakes. It really is a beautiful site, I can see why you love the Rocky Mountains up there in Canada so much. I bet you could have a great day fishing in the shallow areas there, and maybe even some gold panning while you were at it. I love those pictures today, although the cold water is a little shocking. I love the turquoise waters of the tropics too, much less cold!
