Elbow Falls

DSC08182.jpeg

This is Elbow Falls. Located about 45 minutes south-west of Calgary, in the foothills of Kananaskis country, Alberta. No need to go all the way to the Rocky Mountains in order to see water falls. Judging by the terrain, this fall has been here for a considerable length of time. The water originates from Elbow Lake, which is about an hour away or so. This is a glacially fed lake, one of many in the Canadian Rockies. If you are ever in Calgary, and are looking for a great little half day of adventure, this is a great place to go. Thanks for stopping by.

I really like the second picture with the full view, that's a good place for a picnic if you go above that rock on the left, eating with the waterfall near

Why is there a stick placed there in front of the cave? 😅 I wonder if there might be a bear in that cave in winter

That would definitely be a great place for a picnic!

That "stick" looks to be a fallen tree that somehow ended up in this position earlier in the year, when the water was flowing higher (but I could be wrong).

Looks beautiful but very cold! Not like water in the Grand Canyon that is a little warmer! lol That looks like a nice little cave there, and a big one full of timber. It really shows just how big the runoff must be at it's peak. Down stream from the falls might be a good place to look for gold if it's downstream from the rockies!

Oh yes, I will show a few more photos downstream that look ideal for gold panning, later today.
