Cross River meets Kootenay

IMG_20240919_150725_Original.jpeg

The Kootenay river is one long river! 781 kilometres in length to be exact. The majority of the river flows through Canada, about 70%, and the other 30% is through Idaho and Montana. There are multiple tributaries, 14 major ones, and plenty of smaller ones, like the Cross river. Trout is the most prominent species of fish found in the river (Rainbow, Bull, and Westslope cutthroat). Definitely this was one of the highlights of our outing to Nipika Mountain resort area. I could also imagine kayaking or canoeing on this pristine water. How about you?

This really is an extraordinary river appearance, the small island in the middle adds a sense of beauty to the river.

781km long river is quite a distance and am sure different parts of the river will offer different unique beauty. Nature is just amazing.

It's a beautiful riverine area. Since it's open for kayaking, can people also fish some trout from that river?

Yes they can. It's been awhile since I've fished, ought to get out more often.

Beautiful water and scenery to boot! That would be a great place to kayak and fish for some rainbow trout! If it runs through Montana in must be east of the continental divide? I think I like the last picture best, in color because that water is just so pretty. I bet it's freezing cold though!

Yep likely very cold, and it runs through the divide as far as I know. Thanks for dropping in.
