Canadian Rockies Camera Roll

Come, let’s go for a walk along this trail, one of many trails found in the Canadian Rockies. Someday I will have to make a master list of all the hikes I’ve done inside the Canadian Rockies. Whether it be Banff or Jasper, Yoho or Kootenay Park. There are plenty. Most of the hiking I have done up until now have been mostly moderate to easy ones. I have yet to try a full day hike, meaning 7-9 hours in length. Longest one I have done is the hike to Bourgeau Lake, which took about 6.5 hours return. Also I have yet to try the overnighter or multiple day hiking adventure. Maybe that time is fast approaching! That requires a lot more preparation obviously. Perhaps next year I will give it a go.

Good Idea, was thinking the same. Maybe we can do this in as a community, hikes in the Rockies. About to write up a post about the Highline Hike in Canmore today.

I created a community already a couple of years ago. It didn't get much traction, so I sort of lost interest, but maybe it's time to resurrect:

A tag like #rockies or #Canadianrockies would suffice but i'll give it a sub )
#parkscanada is also a good one. For a group, is there anything like a Scenery or Scenic Photography community that would garner a larger following?

May just want to post it in photographer lovers, then cross point in Rocky Mountain community. Problem is curators stick to the major communities. Or simply add the tag #canadianrockies or #rockymountains..

I'll cross post it in the community. It's going to take a couple of months to write up all the hiking posts from the summer. Went to Lake O'Hara, the hikers paradise, if you haven't been make sure to have a few computers open to try and get a spot for 2024.

Yeah, I try every year. Have thought about hiking the 10km up many many times, but have not.

Had 3 computers and 2 phones open and snagged a campsite. My father managed to get the bus for another day and flew out from Toronto just to go there, but I missed out on that. Definitely want to go again.

Got to be a better way, I think they are doing it differently for 2024 if I remember correctly.

Last year you had to be online from 730 to 8am to get a number then they randomly selected those numbers at 8am. In previous years it was a click and call fest.

Campground: 2024 Reservation Launch: Thursday, January 25 2024 at 8:00 am MT

  • In 2024, reservations for the Lake O'Hara day-use shuttle will once again be available by way of random draw. Specific dates for the draw will be posted here as soon as they are confirmed. Check back in February for updates!

You have to be there before those times and I recommend logging in the day before (on a couple of devices) to make sure your credit card details, email and passwords are working.

We hiked up to lake Oesa in the morning, then rounded the ledge to the Opabin plateau. Later that day we walked up to lake MacArthur, was dying by the end of it but totally worth it. Not a single person was at lake MacArthur, just us.

Amazing, these shot's are really nice my friend, what an adventure and sight to see. I still haven't done an overnight hike either and I really need to do one asap.

The photos are incredible. The mountain looks so scary 😨, we don't have anything like that in my city. Here the mountains are change in color.

Oh my, that mountain "as if emerging from the ground" looks especially charming up close and in black and white!... It looks like an abstract and magical painting!

Today I was again doing my work in #Hive with my laptop at my mother's house and I showed her these photos... She sends a round of applause for you! ;)

Greetings and thanks for sharing friend @daveks!
