Black & White or Colour?

DSC09823.jpeg

If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you would know that I publish both black & white and colour versions of each photo. Today I was liking the black and white ones slightly more than the colours, so I led with black and white. Tell me what you think? I realize not everyone is a fan, but I know some of you are. Photos taken along the highway, inside Waterton Lakes national park. Thanks for stopping by.

I like both. I think if the background and foreground don't have a lot of dark vs light contrast, the black and white is better. If there's more contrast, like with the shadow cast on the mountain in your first picture, then I'd rather enjoy it in full color.

Thanks for weighing in. Not everyone can be a fan of black and white, but I love it!

It depends on the photo. Yours from this blog work out better in BW I think!
I will check out the community!

Ypu might want to add a link to the community to this blog 😉

You're right, I probably should.

I preferred the BW's too. Thanks for stopping by.

I agree with your choice, today's view is superior in black and white, especially the last image, the clouds are more contrasting, so the atmosphere feels dramatic but still calm.

Yes I agree with that sentiment. Thanks as always.

I like the colors on landscapes, black and white I like them only in some particular cases

I go for the coloured ones instead of the black and white this time and this is because I think it completes the image by clearing showing the beauty of the landscapes even better.

I see, thanks for adding in your opinion. Myself, although I like both, on this one I lean toward the BW's.

Of course, black and white! 😃👍... You, my @daveks friend, do more than just photograph landscapes; you "extract their soul," composing masterfully and making the most of every line, every element, every space you find... And that kind of talent looks best in black and white!... At least, that's what I think!... I send a big round of applause as always!

First shot the mono takes the cake hands down. It brings out the details so nicely and makes the picture more interesting. Second shot the color wins, you lose too much of the "life" in the B&W there in my opinion. Not sure why...

Third again the monochrome takes the day. I think it's the dead tress combined with the lack of colors except the sky. The details are really interesting in the third one once the colors are gone. Very interesting!

Great as always, each version has it's strengths and weaknesses. Like we've discussed before, it can change the whole feel of the image!

I love all of your cotton photos, whether black and white or in color. Your photos are truly magical. I look at them and think, if I had a good camera, maybe I would try to take such vibrant photography like you. All the best dear.
