Bear’s Road

So I’m cruising down this wonderfully serene and picturesque highway, and just up the road I see this black bear just a walkin down the centre of the highway! So I slam on the brakes and grab the camera. After and edit and crop at 105mm, this is the best I can make it look. Soon after I grabbed this shot, he made a beeline straight into the bushes and gone he was. I love these kind of bear encounters — the ones where I am at a safe distance away! Thanks for stopping by.

Ahh nice catch! He seems so calm there, like who cares it's a road... That was indeed a safe encounter

Yeah, as soon as he spotted me it was off into the bushes!

The bear walking on the center of the road nonchalantly shows this is (his?) domain lol. Nice to view it this close.

It's a bear's world, and we are just living in it!

That quick 105mm croped frame really sells the highway moment. Your safe distance instinct was spot on, because bears don't check mirrors. The way you waited just long enough then their he vanished into the bushes gives the shot a neat exit beat.

It worked out well, when he noticed me, that is when he bolted into the woods.

Right call to keep your distance, and and you still caught the moment before he bolted. That surge of adrenaline hits fast, then you feel the calm after, wild stuff. Teh way it played out makes the whole scene feel natural. Timing and a bit of luck working together.

Nice, safe bear encounter! You were inside your vehicle and far enough away that the bear wasn't frightened. It just goes to show you that even the wild animals would rather walk on the road than through the bushes! lol

It's great to get those kinds of shots, bears aren't commonly seen in the wild. Mainly because they keep their distance from people on purpose. Glad you caught that great picture!

I was lucky to get that shot, only wish I was just a little closer -- but not too close!
