Back to Kootenay

DSC08380.jpeg

Ok, let’s take a walk back to Kootenay National Park. We took a trip out here last Fall and had a blast. The weather was very cooperative as well — which was super. The day started with a quick hike near the townsite of Radium, and then shortly after, another hike up to a viewpoint of the townsite. The town of Radium also features a nearby hot spring, which is a major tourist attraction, drawing close to a half million visitors per year! I’ll be returning again to the area sometime this September to finish up a couple of hikes. Looking forward to that. Thanks for stopping by.

When there are such beautiful scenes on the way of the hike, the fun of the journey becomes double. I like such rivers with shallow water, if you are with your children then having fun in them becomes a memorable moment. :)

It's all about the journey yes; hikes like this are great for children as they are easy going.

Great weather to be autumn!

That pictures make me want to get there, sit on the river shores and put the feets inside the water, sitting there watching around

The water is very clear and shallow. Playing on the small rocks in the water looks fun.

I think, for nature, I generally prefer colour photography. Your shots, however have some really neat composition and I love how some turn out monomad.

Looking at that stream almost makes my feet freeze and cramp. Those mountain streams are so magical.

Generally colour does/can work better. Bring in the mountainous scenes and the black and whites tend to shine a bit more because of the contrast. Hope your having a good summer so far!!

Half million visitors per year- that is pretty big number for a hot spring.

Hot means how hot?? If very hot, what the visitors are doing there?

Wonderful photographs as usual!

Think mineral spring/hot spring. It is a comfortable temperature for relaxing in the water. Check out radiumhotsprings.com for more details if interested.

That is a pretty stream, to small to really call a river! I would spend some time in the hot springs when you get back there in Sept in addition to the hikes. It's a beautiful area, I can see why you want to go back!

First the hot springs, then the cold pool, repeat!
