1949 Newfoundland

1949 was the year Newfoundland joined Canada in confederation, officially. Up until then, they issued stamps under their own territory name. To commemorate this occasion, the stamp depicts John Cabot’s ship called the “Matthew”. He discovered this island called Newfoundland back in 1497!
The second stamps commemorates the 200th anniversary of the founding of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The British created a naval station here at that time in history. For our third stamp, fast forward to 1951. Stage coaches to planes. This commemorates the transfer of postal service administration from Great Britain to British North America. I Learn something new every time I post about Canadian historical stamps, hope you did too!

These are super cool. I have always found Canada super intriguing and have enjoyed my trips up there. Do you feel that The Maple Leaf has fallen? I keep saying Olympus Has Fallen in regards to the United States. I feel like people will try to shift to various states to hold on to the past and then will hit the exit and go to greener pastures or places that have already taken a harder fall. Like Spain is looking promising as far as property prices along the Mediterranean

Did ya know th shift to Canadian stamps resulted in some confusion among collectors and postal workers? rresulting in a comical scenario where individuals in Newfoundland unintentionally used old stamps to send mail within Canada 😉

Canada is a fascinating place, eh? It's on my bucket list.

As for the Maple Leaf falling, I think it's more of a gentle descent, like a leaf gracefully drifting down in the fall. But yeah, with all the chaos down south, it's like a real-life action movie - "Olympus Has Fallen," anyone? And hey, if looking for a change of scenery, I think Spain's got some sweet deals by the Mediterranean, my husband visited Spain once and he left me in Thailand because my Philippines Passport, I should get a USA passport in a years, lol. Time to say "hasta luego" to the past and hola to new adventures!

I have heard a lot of good things about Spain. I had a friend visit there and even his dad, who would always talk positively about the United States because he worked for the US Department of Agriculture, said Phoenix Arizona looked like garbage compared to the Spanish cities.

Hmmm... Can't comment about Arizona, I haven't been there. I do know every country has its own flaws but all have their own beauty too. ❤️

I heard from my nieces who live in Arizona, they said it's beautiful there. I would love to visit one day. If only I have wings lol.

What's your friend's dad's name? Is he the one wearing the yellow hard plastic hat in one of those photos or just the plain cream shirt and shorts with lots of pockets on the sides?

Well, when you say "fallen", you mean like our best days are behind us kinda thing? The west is the place to be in my opinion. I couldn't imagine living in Ontario or someplace like that.

Yeah like the best days are behind us and the currency becomes weaker compared to housing and fuel.

I liked being in Ontario for the most part but I think I would fit in best in Calgary or a place like that.

That has sort of been my experience in the United States as well. I fit in best in Arizona.

Alberta is probably the best place to live at the moment imo.

That makes sense. It's naturally beautiful and people could live pretty remote or in one of the cities and in some respects it seems like it doesn't get sucked into the same politics as Ontario.

Its pretty crazy but I haven't been up there for 10 years. Went on a big road trip in 2014. Started in Tucson and went clear up there and to Jasper and Banff.

Appreciate your stamp posts, they are layered learning and interest, if you will.

Do you mind if I use one or two in a comment in another user's comment section, I will include the link....?

I always get excited when I see the stamps pop up. You have some nice ones! All three are really nice, but the detailing in the second one is phenomenal. I know I say it every week, but I wish they would make them like they used to... That goes coins as well!

Yes, they literally don't make em like they used to. Some of the current stamps are actually ugly. Even looking at cars from the 60's, then compare to the uglier ones of the 70's...

Dear beloved Hive creator,

Coding poet Gudasol here to support you sharing your art + life on Hive.

As a fellow creator, I know how hard it is to get the word out there.

I built cXc.world to help creators like us get more support from the blockchain community + beyond.

Share your music on cXc.world, and copy the Markdown for a easy post includes embedded players for Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud.

That way, you can earn HIVE + stack streams on centralized platforms, as they do still matter.

Not a music creator? No problem. You can still use cXc.world to find + share music you love.

What's next?

Preview the next evolution of cXc, Tetra.earth.

Expose local music from your area!

We're helping grassroots musicians, and you can too by adding their music (no sign up or WAX account required).

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋

We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.

For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
