Vintage Photos - eBay Set #1 (45-48)
See the previous post in this series here.
I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay (sometimes via estate sales). There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here for posterity.
This set continues a batch of slides that I bought on eBay a while back. I don't have as much to go on as to the ultimate origin of these compared to the previous batch. They came to me from eBay and most likely were picked up at an estate sale by the seller. Most of them seem to be taken in the 1960s and same individuals are included in most of the photos. It looks like there are some that were taken in Miami and some that were taken in New Jersey and perhaps elsewhere. I get the impression that Miami was a vacation spot for this family.
The first photo was processed in September 1968 and shows a picnic/cookout. Other photos from this event have shown up in previous sets. Based on the timing, this could have been a Labor Day celebration.
The next three all appear to be part of New Year's celebration. These were processed in February 1969 so I assume it was the arrival of 1969 that was being celebrated. The girl in the pink and white dress that looks like something Sailor Moon might wear showed up in the previous set, presumably at the same party.

Oh wow. This is amazing. I like to think that someone related to those in these pictures may one day stumble across them and be excited that you preserved them like this.
Such a cool idea and one that lets us look back in time at a simpler time.
Yeah, I've often wondered how this kind of stuff winds up at Goodwill or estate sales but it seems to happen quite often. You would think there would be family members out there who would want it.
The story of how these items make it to the shops is probably as interesting as the stories we could make up about the photos themselves.
Unfortunately, many probably never knew their family heirlooms were being thrown out like this. Even more valuable that you are preserving them for future generations to discover.
