Vintage Photos - eBay Set #1 (61-64)
See the previous post in this series here.
I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay (sometimes via estate sales). There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here for posterity.
This set continues a batch of slides that I bought on eBay a while back. I don't have as much to go on as to the ultimate origin of these compared to the previous batch. They came to me from eBay and most likely were picked up at an estate sale by the seller. Most of them seem to be taken in the 1960s and same individuals are included in most of the photos. It looks like there are some that were taken in Miami and some that were taken in New Jersey and perhaps elsewhere. I get the impression that Miami was a vacation spot for this family.
The first shot is another shot outdoors at night in which a number of people were outside enjoying a campfire. Several photos from this same time and place have shown up in previous sets. It was processed in November 1965.
The next photo has no date associated with it but it was clearly taken around Christmas and almost certainly somewhere in the mid to late 1960s.
The third photo appears to be of the same man, in the same chair, smoking the same kind of cigar, at it looks like he is even wearing the same shirt as in the previous photo. However, you can tell that they were not taken at the same time. His pants color is different, the cushion behind his back has a different covering, items on table are slightly different, etc. However, it makes sense that they would have been taken within a year or so. This one was processed in November 1966.
The last photo was also processed in November 1966 and shows some kind of dinner/get together. I'm not sure if it was taken at the same time/place as the previous photo or not.

Any idea what this is in the 2nd photo?
I can't tell how it attaches to the table.
Or what its function would be.
Hmm... my first thought is that it is an ashtray (and there's a carton of Tareyton cigarettes underneath). But since there is a giant ashtray sitting on the table i'm not sure that makes much sense...unless it's just to be closer to a chair on the other side. Cup holder is my only other guess. I can't imagine what else it would be used for. Maybe a different shot will show up in a later set and make it obvious.
Ashtray was my first guess, too.
I can't tell that it is affixed to the table well enough to hold a glass, but maybe.
Another mystery.
The second one up from the bottom, the older gentleman smoking a cigar, is surely a happy accident photo. That is a funny pic, not sure why, I just laughed when I saw it.
