The Hunt For Bluebells...

Yesterday was a lovely late spring/early summer day, not too hot, but too breezy for the drone. However, I've been wanting to photograph some bluebells, these are certainly one of my favourite flowers, so I went on a hunt for them.
I now live at the other side of town so I'm not sure whats local to me unlike the previous area which I know like the back of my hand, anyhow I told my girlfriend that I wanted to get out for a walk and try and photograph some bluebells, she said that there was a wood nearby so following her directions I went for it.

I dropped down into a valley and found some bluebells around a tree, gently lit by the dappled sunlight coming through the canopy. I shot about a dozen pictures and a bit of a video, then I noticed an error coming up on the camera screen, "memory card not in camera", now my camera takes two and I'm thinking "Shit, I've left my memory cards in my laptop bag!", then I realised I kept some "spare" memory cards in the camera bag, thank God, I really didn't want to go all the way back home without any pictures as I'd walked a good distance.

As I finished doing what I was doing, I was just about to go over a small bridge and a cute little dog stood looking at me then fussing me, I thought it was on it's own at first however the owner wasn't too far behind and we had a chat, the man told me where the woods were and so I started to head up the hill in the direction I'd just been given.

It was such a beautiful sight seeing all the wildlife and flowers, I saw quite a few different species of butterfly, orange tips, peacock, and I think I saw a blue adonis butterfly, but I maybe wrong with that one, but I hope it is one, it was certainly a blue one at least lol.

As I got to the woods, I noticed that the slope down to the floor was really really steep, to the point of not even trying to attempt to go down, but I could see all the bluebells down there and wanted to get to them, I decided to stay on the path I was on to see if it would eventually lead down there.

At the end of the path was a lovely little wooden bridge, at the other side you could turn left or right, I went right and headed down into the valley, folllowing a flowing stream, the sound of the water and birds singing was fantastic, the only thing that ruins it around here is the distant sound of traffic, if that sound wasn't there, it would have been perfect.

As I got to the bottom of the path the wood opened up into a meadow, which was carpeted with beautiful bluebells, there were thousands there and the pictures don't do them justice, they were as far as the eye could see, absolutely beautiful sight with the lovely smell of their scent in the air.

I took a few shot and made a video before heading back, I would have loved to have stopped longer but we were going on a birthday celebration so I had to get back and get ready to go out.

I'm hoping for some better weather again so I can get the drone up over the woods and over the bluebells.

I have to say, I had a great day.

Thanks for reading.

All the best :-)

If there is any way to describe nature in photographs, I would say yours are the best suited for it. They are beautiful photos and generate in me an incredible peace with a desire to be in that place.
