Staying in a Hobbit's House...

Having spent a few days in the Lake District, I have come back all refreshed by have the blues as I didn't want my time there to come to an end.

The first night was quite an adventure, we had booked on a campsite called "The Quiet Site", we initially booked to go in the camping pods, a lovely arch shaped shed (to put bluntly lol), although does have heating and electricity, when we got there and checked in, the guy on the counter told us that we had got a free upgrade to a glamping burrow, which was so much better as we didn't need to sleep on the floor and it also had a toilet where as the initial booking we had to use the campsite toilets.

Although the pictures don't do the site justice, the views were just beautiful over Ullswater, which is the second biggest lake in England.

Since my visit I have learned that the campsite is also the highest campsite in England.

The campsite certainly lived up to it's name, it was the most peaceful place I've been to, all you could hear was the sound of the birds, wind blowing through the trees, and nothing else, I loved it.

In the evening we went in the campsite pub, before we went on to Pooley Bridge for our tea, this pub was full of character, I think it must have been an old hunting lodge or something with the amount of antlers etc on the walls.

Ten minutes away, we arrived at Pooley Bridge Inn, and whoa, what a dinner it was.

I ordered a dish called Lamb Henry, it was a massive piece of lamb, with lovely veg, cooked to perfection, I'm not really a drinker and only have the odd one now an again, hence why you only see a coke on the table.

A little walk to help burn off the dinner, we headed down to to the bridge over Ullswater.

We thought the weather might have been getting better, but it was really cold and windy when I took this shot.

If you are in the area, I do highly recommend visiting the Pooley Bridge area, it's lovely, I've still yet to get on one of the Ullswater steamers, but that will be for my next visit.

The next day will be on my next post....

Thanks for reading my blog.

All the best :-)
