My favourite shots of the year, so far - Part One.

(King Arthur, Tintagel, Cornwall).

As winter has hit us, we are getting more and more rain, which is great for the reservoirs, but not so good for photography, I'm hoping to get a few more shoots in before Christmas, but that all depends on my days off work and also how the weather will be on those days.

So, as I like to do, I've been through a few shots that I really like, ones that I have done over 2022, lets get started.....

January

Testing out the drone on the Needles Eye monument, great light that day and not too cold either.

February:

Went for a walk in Cavedale, which is in Castleton in the Peak District, this was a great day, I went with my brother who is recovering from a stroke, so we had a gentle walk, and experience all weathers on this day.

March:

Earthshine - A crescent moon illuminated to look like a full moon, the light that is reflecting on to the moon is from the earth.

9 days later, I photographed the most detailed shot of the moon that I've ever done.

April:

A couple of shots from Bamford edge, using the DJI Mini 2 drone, it was a bit windy, but she held her position lovely. Also, this was when there was water in the reservoirs, little did we know that there was a drought on the way.

A nice atmospheric shot of clouds rolling in over the Stannedge Edge, right before it snowed.

Right place right time, I'm rather proud of this handheld shot, and feel rather lucky that I managed to get it.

May:

A panoramic shot of the town, the sunset was great and I really love how the lights on the road look, I'm wanting to do a similar shot with my new drone, but awaiting for the right conditions.

Also had a trip to Bolsover Castle, the first time I'd gone there with a drone, and this is certainly one of my favourite pictures.

June:

A trip to Bempton cliffs nature reserve, great place to visit and managed to get some lovely shots of Gannets, Razor Bills and Puffins. Although there wasn't as many puffins there as I'd have liked.

I also ticked something of my bucket list, Haille sands Fort, I've been wanting to photograph this for years, and finally, I did!

July:

I need to go back to Carl Wark and do this shot again, but hoping for better light as I do it.

July also saw something else of my bucket list, a visit to Holy Island, somewhere that I've wanted to visit and now I have, I really want to go back there, I think it's my new favourite place.

September:

Back to my other favourite place, and sadly my last visit for a few years, Cornwall, I look at this picture with both happiness and sadness. I'm not sure when I will return, but I will, one day.

October:

The first flight of my new drone, and had to do a few shots of Keppels Column, now that the scaffolding has been taken down and it's been restored back to it's former glory.

Great light meant get out early and get some shots done, this one is Hoober Stand, and I rather like this one too.

I think this shot is one of my favourites of the entire year, shot while in the middle of a drought overlooking Derwent Dam.

Our night at Whitby Abbey, I think this is my second favourite shot of the year.

My third favourite shot of the year, this was supposed to be a shot of Cassiopeia, but I also got the milkyway and the Andromeda galaxy, I love this shot.

November:

Another shot of the moon, not done much yet in November, but I'll keep you posted.

I really hope you've liked this post and enjoyed looking back at the year so far, I have many more shots I'd like to share, so had to really cut them back for this one.

Thanks for reading,

All the best :-)
