Floating In A Sea Of Stars....

Yesterday I visited my parents and had sunday dinner there, as I normally do every week, as I came out their house, I noticed just how clear the sky was, the stars were beautiful and bright and so when I got home, I had to get the camera out.

Jupiter was shining bright and that was my main subject for the little shoot, to the right of Jupiter was Uranus, but I can't make it out on the picture sadly.

I thought I'd try my old 40mm F/2.8 pancake lens, it's a very small lens, but I do love the images from it, and for some reason, it's not one I use that often, but I think I need to change that.

As I was shooting jupiter, I couldn't see it with the naked eye, but there was a thin high level cloud causing a hazing effect, after a bit it did clear but the clouds started to roll in, and I shot in the gaps of the clouds.

I love being under the stars, and while I was shooting jupiter I was looking around, right above my head was Cassiopeia, I thought to myself, I'm gonna get a couple of shots of that before I get in, and I was very surprised with what the camera actually got.

Can you see Cassiopeia here?

This part of the sky looked very quite indeed, with cassiopeia shining bright, I couldn't see anything else.

When the shot came out, I was very very surprised, not only is there Cassiopeia in this shot, there's also part of the Milkyway, and if you look hard enough, you can also see another galaxy, yes, that's Andromeda.

I so need to go to a dark area to do some more shooting and this little lens has certainly proved itself, I'm pretty impressed.

They might not be the best night shots for now, but I do love them, and what they contain, it really is like looking into the passed, all our ancient ancestors would have seen something almost identical, the dinosaurs would have too, this really does make me feel humble.

I hope you've enjoyed this blog, thanks for reading.

All shot with a Sony A7iii camera, with a Canon 40mm F/2.8 prime lens, adapted with a Sigma MC-11.

Have a great week,

All the best :-)

Thank you ever so much, it is a case of try then try again, next time I'm going to take multiple shots and blend them etc so I can get much less noise in the final image, but I don't have a tracker so will have to get the alignment sorted too lol.
