Best shots of 2023, a year of changes.

In this post I'm taking a look back at some of my favourite shots for 2023, I was trying to hold out until December, however due to work and the weather I am doubtful I will be getting out with the camera or drone before the new year.

Before I start I'd just like to thank each and everyone of you for following and liking my blog, thank you ever so much, it means more than words can say.

As mentioned, it has been a year of change for myself, I've done things for photography this year that I've never done before, for example, getting up at 3am and going out for the sunrise etc, and yes, in my own opinion, it certainly paid off. I've also given up writing music, something I've been doing since I was about 14 years old, now my main hobby is photography.

The shots featured are in no particular order, just my favourites of 2023.

Meteorite Hunting

The milky way core, I was hunting for meteors on this one, but I wanted to time it right with the milky way's core, I think I succeeded in this one, I think there maybe the odd starlink satellite in here too.

Sunrise On The Mountain

A very early start for this one, 3am, I was surprised with the amount of people already there when we got there, great morning, and had a great breakfast afterwards too. I just love these moody skies.

Sunset On The Mountain

The above shots was taken a week or two before the Sunrise shots, again taken up the Mam Tor mountain, it was very busy with people, although it is so easy to get to from the road, I can understand why it gets so busy. Also some of my favourite shots of the year.

Owler Tor

As the end of summer came around, the heather started to bloom with it's gorgeous pink flowers, I wanted to get some shots of this and a good sunset around this rock formation, sadly I didn't get the sunset, but I got the lovely light and those flowers and came out more than happy with these shots.

Aurora Hunting

As one of my friends managed to get the Aurora Borealis around this windmill the previous night, I headed out there in the hopes of activity, sadly the aurora didn't show, however I was more than blown away with the amount of stars you could see, it was breathtaking, as the cloud started to close in I got this shot, in which I thin the clouds add to the shot, I'll definitely be going back here in Milkyway Season.

Looking for the green comet

Another early start as I wanted to capture Comet Nishimura, I couldn't see it with the naked eye, but I managed to get it, it was much smaller than I had imagined, but you can make it out towards the centre of the image. On the plus side, I got it, don't let the picture fool you though, it was much darker than the image looks, and I was having to use a torch to get setup etc.

Sunrise Over The North Sea

I just love this shot.

199 Steps, Whitby

Nocturnal Experimentation

An evening at Banburgh beach

Fountains Abbey

The Holy Island Of Lindisfarne

So that's just some of my favourite shots from 2023, I may do another post featuring more shots, however I'll leave it here for now.

Thanks for reading this blog and I really hope you've enjoyed the photography.

All the best :-)

Each image is a visual piece of art!

Though I cannot pick one favorite from the collection Sunrise on the Mountain (first pic), Owler Tor (second pic), Aurora Hunting, and Nocturnal Experimentation made a lasting impression on me.

Excellent work! @darrenflinders
