An island of turned over boats and steeped in history.

Day two of my holiday saw me visiting Lindisfarne aka Holy Island, hence the name this is an island that you really do have to watch the tide times as people have been known to get stuck on the causeway heading on and off the island.
I really do love it on here, although I still have to walk around the island fully, the main village is beautiful with pubs and coffee shops as well as ancient buildings that you can visit.

Above is the same image processed slightly differently, as with the poor light initially, I thought I would do some sort of moody monochrome shots too, although shot in colour and converted in lightroom.

We headed into Lindisfarne Castle as we are members of the National Trust and thought while we are there it will be worth a visit, if you aren't members I think it's around £9.50 per adult and around £4.50 per child (these are prices off the top of my head so may not be perfectly accurate).
The castle is a rather small one, it's more like a big house, and it was absolutely rammed with people, so getting around was quite a chore at times trying to avoid everyone, to be honest though, I don't think the entry fee is worth the price, but at least I have been inside it now.

I was in two minds whether to take my drone up as it was rather breezy, I kept checking my app and it said that it was safe to fly, and so I thought I'd risk it, the drone held lovely in the gusts, and I got some decentish shots, you can see with how choppy the water was as to how breezy it was at the time of shooting.

(Looking back towards the harbour).

(Spot the swallow).

I only decided to use one battery on the drone as the wind started to feel like it was getting stronger, we decided to then go to a cafe for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, after that we headed back to our holiday home, which we time right because as we were driving back, it did start to rain.

I really need to get back on the island and try and get it when it's deserted from tourists and get a decent sunset, hoping to do this in september if days off work, weather and tide times all work out correctly lol.

I really hope you've enjoyed this post of this rather unique island.

All shots by me using a Sony A7iii camera and a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone.

Thanks for reading,

All the best :-)

Something about looking at boats and the blue waters, or black and white images of the same, always creates a peaceful, soothing feeling.

Excellent photographs! @darrenflinders

Thanks ever so much, I love to see the blue sea, although it was fairly windy and the waters a bit choppy, but still lovely to look at.
