Trapped

She yearned earnestly of when she'd be free from this prison.
She was trapped and had no way to be set free
Sometimes she'd wonder and reason,
when her time of freedom will be

He had hit her today again
The bruises getting intense each day
She staggered till her balance she couldn't regain
There was no one to take her pain away.

She wanted a prince , strong and bold .
A knight in shining armour came along
Little did she know,all that glitters ain't gold
And even a knight in shining armour could trap you in prison for long.

After the lashings came the gifts
Laced with promises never to hit her again
A little kiss here and there and her spirit he would lift
But his promises he could not retain.

She had enough when he hit her this time
She didn't wait for the clock to chime
"I can't do this anymore"she voiced
He thundered "It's not like you have any choice"

Like a speckle was taken off her eye
She realized she was with the key to her Prison
Time had quickly gone by.
But she kept her self there season after season

Walk away she did, never to return to the night
Freedom was such a beautiful melody
In no time,her life was filled again with the light
She knew at last she was finally free.
