Solarización en La Estancia - MONOMAD Challenge [ESP-ENG]

El mismo día que fui a La Hacienda La Estancia caminé por sus jardines tomando fotos. Al principio disfrutaba del sonido de la naturaleza, a pesar de estar en medio de la ciudad; estos árboles absorben muy bien el ruido. Sin embargo me topé con varios niños escandalosos (no eran suizos) por lo que caminé lejos de ellos.

Era temprano y todavía había rincones sin nada de gente. Fue donde tomé las fotos que muestro. Este espacio es muy colorido por lo general. Hay flores y esta lleno de colores vibrantes. Sin embargo ese día estaba nublado; cuando llegué había terminado de llover minutos antes. Esto hizo que no había mucho contraste y los colores de las fotos salieron apagados. Fue cuando decidí editar las fotos a blanco y negro.

Las fotos de naturaleza siempre he preferido que sean a color, pero esta vez cambié a blanco y negro y me encantó el resultado. Me recordé a un ejercicio que realicé en mis clases de fotografía llamado "Solarización" que se los cuento más adelante.

La edición en Photoshop, incluye el "Paso Alto" en modo superponer suave, para darle un efecto HDR. También modifiqué los tonos y no simplemente pasarlo a escala de grises. La única foto que está así de simple es mi selfie.

The same day I went to La Hacienda La Estancia I walked around its gardens taking pictures. At first I enjoyed the sound of nature, despite being in the middle of the city; these trees absorb the noise very well. However I ran into several rowdy children (they were not Swiss) so I walked away from them.

It was early and there were still corners with no people at all. That's where I took the pictures I show here. This space is very colorful in general. There are flowers and it is full of vibrant colors. However on this day it was cloudy; when I arrived it had finished raining minutes before. This meant that there wasn't much contrast and the colors in the photos came out dull. That's when I decided to edit the photos to black and white.

Nature photos I have always preferred to be in color, but this time I switched to black and white and I loved the result. I remembered an exercise I did in my photography classes called “Solarization” which I will tell you more about later.

The editing in Photoshop, includes the “High Pass” in soft overlay mode, to give it a HDR effect. I also modified the tones and did not simply change it to grayscale. The only photo that is this simple is my selfie.

Solarización

Esto es una técnica de revelado en blanco y negro. Consiste en "quemar" el negativo cuando se está revelando. Dependiendo de la película (ASA) será la cantidad de tiempo de quemado.

Se realiza abriendo el tanque durante unos segundos a mitad del revelado. No se hace directo al sol, sino con luz suabe. El sol podría ser muy fuerte y velar todo el rollo. Cuando lo hice en el instituto, lo abrí durante 5 segundo.

Esto lo que hace es invertir los tonos y parece que estuviera en positivo la película y negativo la copia en el papel. Justo las dos fotos de abajo, son las que más se asemejan al resultado de solarización, aunque todas tienen su similitud. Quizás es porque la práctica del instituto la hice con unas flores. Aquí pueden apreciar como las flores parecen bombillos y tienen un contorno bien resaltante; algo que me pasó cuando hice la solarización hace mil años jajajaja. Si consigo esas fotos se las publico.

Pueden apreciar como la misma foto a color pierde encanto, es muy simple y sin atractivo. Mientras que con la edición, genera curiosidad de qué flores son esas.

Solarization

This is a black and white developing technique. It consists of “burning” the negative when it is being developed. Depending on the film (ASA) will be the amount of burn time.

It is done by opening the tank for a few seconds in the middle of development. It is not done in direct sunlight, but with soft light. The sun could be too strong and it could burn the whole roll. When I did it in high school, I opened it for 5 seconds.

What this does is to invert the tones and it looks like the film is positive and the copy on the paper is negative. Just the two photos below are the ones that most resemble the result of solarization, although they all have their similarities. Maybe it is because I did the high school practice with some flowers. Here you can see how the flowers look like light bulbs and they have a very bright outline; something that happened to me when I did the solarization a thousand years ago hahahaha. If I get those photos I will publish them.

You can see how the same photo in color loses its charm, it is very simple and unattractive. While with the edition, it generates curiosity of what flowers are those.
