In La Colonia Tovar there are several activities to do, besides eating and walking. There is a tour that includes these activities. One of them is the visit to the famous Casa del Arbol and in this post I will tell you about my experience.

The first thing was the bad signage to get to the place. There is only one sign that tells you where to get off the main road. After that you have to guess. The route is a narrow street where only one vehicle passes. It is also residential and you would think the place would be somewhat commercial.

The narrow street and the family houses, make you doubt that you are going the right way. At one point I almost turned around because I thought I was lost. We saw other cars behind us passing confidently and as the area was very lonely, we thought they might just be going to the Casita.

We did indeed arrive at the Casita. The first thing you see is a large family home. However you see a large parking lot and tour carts standing there. In the background you see the Casi del Arbol.

Admission is $1 per person. The attraction is to see the Casita and walk along the hanging point to enter it. Of course take lots of pictures. It is a different walk that can give you good pictures.

We were fortunate to go at Christmas time and waited until sunset to see it with lights; a beauty.

In the same space there are two kiosks where you sell food and drinks. Some good craft beers are $3 and domestic beers are $2. I recommend the apple beer. I had a craft beer to try and a domestic beer with the food. We ordered a plate of sausage and potatoes for $8.

The service was spectacular from the waitress. Super nice and she told us all the history of the place. Her attention was so good that we asked for a picture.

In spite of this I don't think I would eat there again. They had the music too loud; so loud that I asked them to turn it down. They did for a moment and then turned it up again. It is possible that the owners told the music kiosk to turn it up. To top it off, the music was not traditional; even salsa can be heard. I was told that it used to be worse because they played pure reagueton. Guess what; the owners are not the original owners when the Casita was built, it was built by a Russian at the request of the German who lived there, for his children. When the gentleman died, the sons had the house for a while and got bored, selling it to these scandalous Venezuelans. The noise really damages the incredible place, plus the horns were of poor quality and the music was static.

That's why I found it a bit expensive, both the beers and the food. However, we had a great time...

En La Colonia Tovar existen varias actividades por hacer, además de comer y caminar. Hay un tour que se hace que incluyen estas actividades. Una de ellas es la visita a la famosa Casa del Árbol y en este post te cuento mi experiencia.

Lo primero fue la mala señalización para llegar al lugar. Solo hay un letrero que te indica dónde salir de la carretera principal. Después de ahí tienes que adivinar. El trayecto es una calle estrecha donde solo pasa un vehículo. Además es residencial y una piensa que el lugar sería algo comercial.

La calle tan estrecha y las casas de familias, te hacen dudar de que vayas por buen camino. En un momento casi doy vuelta porque pensé que me había perdido. Vimos otros carros detrás de nosotros que pasaron con mucha confianza y como la zona era muy solitaria, dijimos que solo podrían estar yendo a la Casita.

Efectivamente llegamos a la Casita. Lo primero que se ve es una gran casa familiar. Sin embargo ves un gran estacionamiento y carritos de excursiones parados ahí. Al fondo se ve la Casi del Árbol.

La entrada vale $1 por persona. La atracción es ver la Casita y caminar por el punte colgante para entrar en ella. Por supuesto tomar muchas fotos. Es un paseo diferente que te puede dar buenas fotos.

Tuvimos la fortuna de ir en Navidad y esperamos al atardecer para verla con luces; una belleza.

En el mismo espacio hay dos kioskos donde vendes comida y bebidas. Unas buenas cervezas artesanales que valen $3 y las cervezas nacionales $2. Les recomiendo la cerveza de manzana. Yo me tomé una artesanal para probar y una nacional con la comida. Pedimos un plato de salchichas con papas por un valor de $8.

La atención fue espectacular por parte de la mesera. Súper simpática y nos contó toda la historia del lugar. Fue tan buena su atención que le pedimos una foto.

A pesar de esto creo que no volvería a comer ahí. Tenían la música demasiado alta; tanto que les pedí que la bajaran. Lo hicieron por un momento y luego la subieron de nuevo. Es posible que los dueños le dijeran al kiosko de la música que la subieran. Para colmo la música no era tradicional; hasta salsa se escucha. Me dijeron que antes era peor porque ponían puro reagueton. Adivinen qué; los dueños no son los originarios cuando se construyó la Casita, que fue por un ruso a pedido del alemán que vivió ahí, para sus hijos. Cuando el señor se murió, los hijos tuvieron la casa por un tiempo y se aburrieron, vendiéndola a estos venezolanos escandalosos. De verdad que esa bulla daña el lugar tan increíble, además que las cornetas eran de mala calidad y la música se escuchaba con estática.

Por eso me pareció un poco costoso, tanto las cervezas como la comida. Sin embargo la pasamos muy bien...
