Ciudad Mural - Modern art on Valencia's historic Colombia street [ENG/SPA]

Reviewing the places already visited on the #Worldmappin map of the historic center of Valencia, Carabobo State - Venezuela, I noticed that other hivers have already written about certain historical sites in the city. However, so far, no one has shared the most recent addition to the area: 18 murals by artists from various parts of the world, created as part of an initiative called "Ciudad Mural" (Mural City).

Revisando los lugares ya visitados en el mapa de #Worldmappin del centro histórico de Valencia, estado Carabobo - Venezuela, pude constatar que otros hivers ya han escrito de ciertos lugares históricos de la ciudad, pero ninguno hasta ahora a compartido lo más reciente que se ha agregado a la zona, son 18 murales de artistas de varias partes del mundo, como parte de una iniciativa llamada "Ciudad Mural".

The city of Valencia has many historical spaces, but the largest concentration of these is found on the famous Colombia Street, which was once the entrance to the city in colonial times. This street, from beginning to end, brings together a series of curiosities that I want to share with you. Therefore, I will be making a series of posts about iconic places on this street, its historical spaces, and its renovated sites, starting today with the 18 murals that extend along this road.

La ciudad de Valencia tiene muchos espacios históricos, pero la mayor acumulación de estos se encuentran en la conocida calle Colombia, la que fue alguna vez la entrada a la ciudad en la época colonial. Está calle de principio a fin reune una serie de curiosidades que quiero compartir con ustedes, así que haré una serie de publicaciones de lugares icónicos de esta calle, sus espacios históricos, sus sitios renovados, comenzando hoy con los 18 murales que se extiende a lo largo de esta calle.

I love this initiative. I like urban art; I enjoy graffiti and murals, as long as they are not part of vandalism. I admire the artists who work hard so their art is taken into account, eventually managing to get spaces assigned to capture it. It is great that the city's art direction has voluntarily granted them these spaces, achieving a fusion of the ancient with modern artistic expressions—it is a visually powerful contrast.

Me encanta esta iniciativa, me gusta el arte urbano, los grafitis y murales los disfruto, siempre y cuando no sean parte del bandalismo; admiro a los artistas que trabajan porque su arte sea tomado en cuenta, hasta lograr que les cedan espacios para plasmarlo. Que bueno que la dirección de arte de la ciudad les ha dado estos espacios voluntariamente, logrando una fusión de lo antiguo con con expresiones artísticas modernas, es un contraste visualmente poderoso.

If you come to the city of Valencia and want to see them, you must be prepared to walk. There is no parking in the immediate zone as it is very busy, given that the popular commercial area of the city is located nearby. So, it is best to arrive on foot and patiently walk down Colombia Street from Av. 100 to Av. 105 (or Anzoátegui Street). This entire stretch was converted into a sort of boulevard and car circulation is limited, so you can walk peacefully.

Si vienes a la ciudad de Valencia y quieres conocerlos, debes estar preparado para caminar, no hay estacionamiento en la zona, ya que es muy concurrida, porque en los alrededores se encuentra la zona comercial popular de la ciudad, así que es mejor llegar caminando, y con paciencia recorrer la calle Colombia desde la Av. 100 hasta la Av. 105 o calle Anzoátegui, todo este tramo fue convertido en una especie de boulevard y la circulación de carros es limitada, así que se puede caminar con tranquilidad.

It was great walking until I found all 18 murals. Some are in plain sight, while for others, you must stop and look closely to find them. It isn't very difficult because they are quite colorful; the detail is that some are located on side walls that do not directly face Colombia Street. While you find them, there are several plazas along the way with benches where you can sit and relax. If you go with children, they can even play in a park with swings located in the area.

Fue genial caminar hasta encontrar los 18 murales, algunos están a simple vista, otros debes detenerte a observar bien hasta encontrarlos. No es muy difícil porque son bastantes coloridos, el detalle es que de encuentran en paredes laterales que no hacen frente con la calle Colombia. Mientras los encuentras, en el trayecto hay varias plazas con bancas donde te podrás sentar y relajarte, incluso si vas con niños ellos podrán jugar en parque con columpios que hay en la zona.

Talking about the artistic expressions themselves is a topic for another community; suffice it to say that there is something for everyone, including airbrushing, brushwork, strokes, etc. The important thing here is that these are open-air spaces that you can visit with the most modest budget. You can take public transport if you want from Avenida Lara; the buses that take Soublette Street and go towards the north of the city will leave you just 50 meters from the first mural.

Hablar de las expresiones artísticas es tema para otra comunidad, basta decir que hay para todos los gustos, con aerógrafo, pincel, trazos con brocha, etc. Lo importante acá es que son espacios al aire libre que puedes visitar con el presupuesto más modesto, puedes tomar el transporte público si quieres desde la avenida Lara, los buses que toman la calle Soublette y van hacia el norte de la ciudad, estos te dejarán a solo 50 metros del primer mural.

Bring your water, and perhaps something to eat, although there are many places to sit. However, if you prefer, there are cafes and small bodegas (convenience stores) where you can buy things along Colombia Street. In summary, it is a good weekend plan to do something different and take great photos.

Lleva tu agua y si quieres algo para comer porque hay muchos sitios donde sentarte, pero si prefieres hay cafés y pequeñas bodegas donde comprar a lo largo de la calle Colombia, en resumen es un buen plan de fin de semana para hacer algo diferente y tomar fotos geniales.
