Hola a todos. Tenía días que no pasaba por acá compartiendo un poco de mi día a día y la verdad lo extrañaba mucho. Esta semana había estado un poco ocupada, pero hoy vengo a contarles una experiencia que tuve hace unas semanas con mi mamá. Resulta que un sábado normal como cualquier otro, yo me despierto pensando que sería un día relajado y tranquilo, y mi mamá también pensaba lo mismo.

Hello everyone. It had been a few days since I last stopped by to share a bit of my daily life, and honestly, I missed it a lot. This week I’d been a little busy, but today I want to tell you about an experience I had a few weeks ago with my mom. It all started on a regular Saturday, just like any other, I woke up thinking it would be a calm and relaxing day, and my mom thought the same.

Fue ahí justo después de desayunar cuando mi tía llama a mi mamá diciéndole que una novia tenía una emergencia, su vestido estaba arrugado y su boda era ese mismo día en la tarde. Otro detalle importante es que el vestido no lo podían mover de donde estaban porque era muy delicado, de una tela muy difícil de manejar y además se encontraban en los Ranchos de Chana.

Right after breakfast, my aunt called my mom saying that a bride had an emergency, her dress was wrinkled and her wedding was that same afternoon. Another important detail, the dress couldn’t be moved from where it was because it was very delicate, made of a fabric that was difficult to handle, and they were at the Ranchos de Chana.

Mi mamá lo pensó un rato, ya que queda eso muy lejos de nuestra casa, sin embargo mi tía le dijo que fuera porque la novia no era de aquí de Margarita, así que no conocía a más nadie y la boda era ese mismo día, por lo que estaban en un corre corre. Era una gran responsabilidad, debido a que se comunicaron con mi mamá alrededor de las 11 am y el vestido tenía que estar listo a las 4 pm para su boda civil, no sabía cómo era ni de qué tamaño, aún así mi mamá tomó la responsabilidad.

My mom thought about it for a moment, since it’s very far from our house. But my aunt insisted she go, because the bride wasn’t from Margarita and didn’t know anyone else, and the wedding was that same day, so they were in a rush. It was a big responsibility, they contacted my mom around 11 a.m., and the dress had to be ready by 4 p.m. for the civil ceremony. She didn’t know what the dress looked like or how big it was, but she still took on the task.

Rápidamente nos arreglamos, preparamos todo, la mesa de planchar, la plancha a vapor, la plancha de mesa convencional y estuvimos listas aproximadamente en 1 hora. Nos fue a buscar un taxi amigo de la wedding planner de la boda, y nos fuimos directo a los Ranchos.

We quickly got ready, packed everything, the ironing board, the steam iron, the regular iron, and were ready in about an hour. A taxi, a friend of the wedding planner, came to pick us up and we headed straight to the Ranchos.

Yo estaba nerviosa y a la vez emocionada, es un lugar que había escuchado muchas veces pero no tenía idea de cómo sería, además los nervios más grandes eran por no saber lo que nos esperaba con ese vestido y sentir la presión de que no estaríamos en nuestra casa como normalmente sino en otro lugar muy lejos, sin ni siquiera saber cómo sería el vestido que tendríamos que planchar.

I was nervous and excited at the same time. It’s a place I’d heard about many times but had no idea what it was like. The biggest nerves came from not knowing what to expect with the dress and feeling the pressure of not being at home like usual, but somewhere far away, without even knowing what the dress we like.

El camino fue muy largo, pero entretenido. Pude observar vistas muy bonitas como la de Playa Guacuco y a medida que íbamos llegando la playa se podía ver en un lado de la carretera. Al llegar, por fuera parecía que sería como una residencia cualquiera, le explicaron al taxi cómo era el camino hacia el rancho que teníamos que ir, pues resulta que es algo inmenso con muchos ranchos, no era uno solo como yo pensaba.

The trip was long but entertaining. I saw beautiful views, like Playa Guacuco, and as we got closer, the beach could be seen from one side of the road. When we arrived, from the outside it looked like any regular residence. They explained to the taxi driver how to get to the specific rancho we needed to reach, and it turned out to be a huge place with many ranchos, not just one, as I had imagined.

Varias veces nos perdimos y nos metíamos por donde no era, las calles son pequeñas y con mucha vegetación, era como si estuviéramos en una montaña subiendo poco a poco, pero logramos llegar y ya era como la 1:30 pm, el tiempo no estaba a nuestro favor y eso era algo que nos preocupaba.

We got lost several times, taking wrong turns. The streets are narrow and full of vegetation, it felt like we were climbing a mountain little by little. But we finally arrived around 1:30 p.m., and time was not on our side, which worried us.

Nos recibió la wedding planner y buscó a un señor que nos iba a explicar algo, cuando mi mamá vio al señor no lo podía creer, yo no entendía mucho por qué tanta emoción, hasta que me dijo que era un diseñador muy famoso llamado Giovanni Scutaro, nos saludó muy amable y nos llevaron a ver el vestido.

The wedding planner greeted us and brought over a man who was going to explain something. When my mom saw him, she couldn’t believe it. I didn’t understand why she was so excited until she told me he was a very famous Venezuelan designer named Giovanni Scutaro. He greeted us kindly and took us to see the dress.

Yo aproveché y tomé unas fotos de la vista tan hermosa que había en ese lugar, era una vista única, ya les había mostrado algunas en un post anteriormente.

I took the opportunity to snap a few photos of the stunning view from that place, it was truly unique. I had already shared some of those views in a previous post.

Los vestidos (el de la boda civil y el de la boda eclesiástica) tenían una habitación única y exclusivamente para ellos. El de la boda eclesiástica estaba tendido en la cama, demasiado bello, los detalles, la tela, era hermoso y el de la boda civil también. El diseñador nos explicó cómo eran los vestidos y nos dejó para que pusiéramos manos a la obra.

The dresses (for the civil and religious ceremonies) had a room dedicated exclusively to them. The religious ceremony dress was laid out on the bed, absolutely beautiful, with exquisite details and fabric. The civil ceremony dress was also stunning. The designer explained the dresses to us and then left us to get to work.

Rápidamente armamos todo, nos llevaron agua potable para ponerle a la plancha, al ser un vestido tan delicado no se podía usar agua de chorro normal porque si estaba sucia podía dañar la tela. Y poco a poco fuimos planchando cada capa de la seda. No fue una tarea sencilla porque había que cuidar que no cayera ni una sola gota de agua que quedara marcada en la tela, y al ser de seda era aún peor.

We quickly set everything up. They brought us potable water for the iron, since the dress was so delicate, we couldn’t use regular tap water, as any impurities could damage the fabric. We carefully ironed each layer of silk. It wasn’t an easy task, we had to make sure not a single drop of water fell and marked the fabric, and being silk made it even trickier.

Todo nos salió bien, estuvo listo el vestido justo a las 4 pm que lo pasaron a buscar a la habitación, aunque nuestra tarea aún no terminaba, pues había que seguir con el otro vestido aún más grande que sería utilizado al día siguiente. A pesar de ser mucho más grande y pesado, resultó ser más fácil de planchar, no sé si fue porque ya no teníamos la presión del tiempo o porque teníamos algo más de experiencia por haber planchado uno antes.

Everything went well, the dress was ready right at 4 p.m., when they came to pick it up from the room. But our task wasn’t over yet, we still had to work on the other, even larger dress that would be used the next day. Despite being much bigger and heavier, it turned out to be easier to iron. I’m not sure if it was because we no longer had the pressure of time or because we had gained some experience from the first one.

Terminamos todo como a eso de las 8 pm, y pues a pesar de al principio estar un poco estresadas por pensar que no alcanzaría el tiempo, sí nos alcanzó y todo fue excelente. Una experiencia que me gustó mucho. Un lugar hermoso, los Ranchos de Chana yo pensaba que era algo pequeño donde la gente hacía sus bodas pero resultó ser un conjunto de diferentes posadas grandes y bonitas. We finished everything around 8 p.m., and although we were a bit stressed at first thinking we wouldn’t make it in time, we did, and everything turned out great. It was an experience I really enjoyed. A beautiful place, the Ranchos de Chana, I had thought it was just a small venue where people held weddings, but it turned out to be a collection of large, lovely inns. I hope you enjoyed my post.
