Cuando era pequeña, al salir de la escuela, mi mamá me iba a buscar y después nos íbamos a Dibs, que quedaba cerca de mi colegio. Dibs era un lugar que me encantaba, una tienda muy grande llena de electrodomésticos, televisores y todo tipo de cosas que nosotras, como somos muy curiosas, siempre queríamos ver para decidir qué comprar. Cada vez que yo tenía unos ahorros quería comprar algo en Dibs, como neceseres para guardar mis accesorios, que todavía conservo porque me salieron de buena calidad. Pero luego, entre tantas cosas, salí del colegio y no volvimos a Dibs porque ya no nos queda tan cerca de casa.

When I was little, after school, my mom used to pick me up and we would go to Dibs, which was close to my school. Dibs was a place I loved, a big store filled with appliances, TVs, and all kinds of things that we, being very curious, always wanted to explore to decide what to buy. Whenever I had some savings, I wanted to spend them at Dibs, buying things like toiletry bags to store my accessories, which I still have because they turned out to be really good quality. But over time, I graduated and we stopped going to Dibs since it’s no longer close to our home.

Resulta que la semana pasada, mi mamá y yo seguíamos en la búsqueda de la tapa para poceta ideal, y fue así como entramos a Dibs después de tantos años. Yo estaba emocionada, quería ver cuánto había cambiado y recordar momentos de mi infancia, además de ver qué cosas había y si podíamos encontrar esa tapa que llevábamos tiempo buscando.

Last week, my mom and I were still on the hunt for the perfect toilet seat lid, and that’s how we ended up at Dibs again after so many years. I was excited, I wanted to see how it had changed and to relive childhood memories, as well as check out what they had and whether we could finally find the lid we’d been looking for.

Lo primero que hicimos fue subir directamente al segundo piso, que es donde se encuentran los electrodomésticos y cosas del hogar en general. Dimos una vuelta y algo que pude notar como positivo de Dibs fue su organización. En estos días visitamos otras tiendas, y tal vez también tienen mucha variedad de artículos para el hogar, pero entre tantos pasillos angostos llenos de cosas, hace que sea difícil buscar y ver los objetos, además de que uno camina con miedo de que se caiga algo. En cambio, aquí buscar y caminar por los pasillos fue una actividad placentera y relajante. Todo muy bien ordenado, cada cosa en su sección. No es que vas a ver los cepillos de barrer en un lugar y después en otro más, aquí está todo junto en el mismo sitio. Eso me gustó mucho porque facilita el momento de buscar algo.

The first thing we did was head straight to the second floor, where they have appliances and household items. We walked around and one positive thing I noticed about Dibs was its organization. Lately, we’ve visited other stores that might also have a wide variety of home goods, but their narrow aisles packed with stuff make it difficult to browse, and you walk nervously, afraid something might fall. In contrast, walking through Dibs was pleasant and relaxing. Everything is well arranged, every item in its place. You won’t find broom brushes scattered across different areas, they're all together in one spot. I really liked that because it makes searching for things much easier.

Encontramos tapas de pocetas rápidamente, no fue nada difícil. Pero al momento de escoger había un detalle, no teníamos las medidas ni tampoco un metro cerca. Así que llamamos a mi papá, que estaba en la casa y tomó las medidas. También le pedimos el favor a una señora que trabajaba allí de prestarnos un metro, y fue muy amable al hacerlo. Eso fue algo que noté de Dibs, las personas que trabajan allí disfrutan ayudar y son muy solidarias.

We found toilet seat lids quickly, it wasn’t difficult at all. But when it came time to choose one, there was a small issue: we didn’t have the measurements, nor a measuring tape. So we called my dad, who was at home, and he took the measurements for us. We also asked a lady who worked there if we could borrow a tape measure, and she was kind enough to lend it to us. That’s something I noticed about Dibs, the people who work there genuinely enjoy helping and are very supportive.

Cuando tomamos las medidas, resultó que eran justo del tamaño que necesitábamos. Eso nos puso contentas, también porque estaban mucho más económicas. Las que habíamos visto antes estaban casi al doble de precio, así que no lo dudamos y la llevamos.

Once we had the measurements, it turned out the lids were exactly the size we needed. That made us happy, especially because they were much more affordable. The ones we’d seen before were nearly double the price, so we didn’t hesitate and bought it.

Cuando bajamos a pagar, aproveché para dar un vistazo a la parte de abajo. Venden de todo, útiles escolares, cuadernos con diseños bonitos, bolsos escolares, cunas para bebés y hasta ropita para recién nacido. De verdad está muy bien surtido. También hay cosas para la cocina, termos y maletas. Al momento de pagar, noté que había Cashea, una plataforma de financiamiento muy famosa ahorita en Venezuela, que da la facilidad de comprar productos sin intereses. Así que, sin dudas, volveré con mi mamá a comprar una freidora de aire que llevamos tiempo queriendo, y viendo que tienen Cashea, muchísimo mejor.

Before heading to the checkout, I took a quick look around the ground floor. They sell everything, school supplies, notebooks with beautiful designs, school bags, baby cribs, and even clothes for newborns. It’s really well stocked. They also carry kitchen items, thermoses, and luggage. At the register, I noticed they offer Cashea, a very popular financing platform in Venezuela that lets you buy products with no interest. So without a doubt, I’ll be going back with my mom to buy an air fryer we’ve been wanting for a while, and knowing they accept Cashea makes it even better!
