retro diaries | entre calles, libros y comida... [ENG/ESP]

Hoy ha sido un bonito inicio de mes y, espero que para ti también lo haya sido.

Decidimos salir a caminar un rato para tomar algunas fotos y videos. También nos tomamos un tiempo de descanso para ir a comer y hablar un poco sobre las trivialidades de la vida. El clima estaba bastante templado, además de que el cielo estaba despejado y hacía ver al día más hermoso.

Algo que me gusta mucho de la isla es que mantiene sus calles empedradas y su arquitectura antigua intacta. Algunas veces me pregunto cómo habrá sido vivir aquí hace algunos años atrás, cuando la única fuente de comunicación que teníamos eran las cartas.

Creo que esa es una característica que siempre ha llamado mi atención cuando visito un lugar nuevo, su historia y cómo lucía en el ayer. Así cómo también es curioso pensar cómo se verán en un futuro, cuando nosotros ya no estemos o seamos muy viejos.

Es por eso que creo tanto en el poder de la fotografía y de plasmar un recuerdo para la posteridad, realmente de ahí nace toda ésta iniciativa de retro diaries. Guardar todos estos recuerdos para en futuro echarle un vistazo y trasladarse por un momento a la época.

Esa es la verdadera importancia de crear recuerdos a través del lente de una cámara y, creo que también ese es un hermoso regalo para nuestros hijos, nietos o bisnietos. Y es un regalo hermoso, dejar como recuerdo todos esos lugares que conocimos en la juventud, como lucíamos y qué emociones nos transmitía en ese entonces, es como el arte de contar una historia.

Today has been a nice start to the month and, I hope it has been for you too.

We decided to go for a walk for a while to take some pictures and videos. We also took some time off to go for lunch and talk a bit about the trivia of life. The weather was quite mild, plus the sky was clear and made the day look more beautiful.

One thing I really like about the island is that it has kept its cobblestone streets and old architecture intact. Sometimes I wonder what it must have been like to live here a few years ago, when the only source of communication we had were letters.

I think that is a characteristic that has always caught my attention when I visit a new place, its history and what it looked like in the past. Just as it is also curious to think how they will look in the future, when we are no longer here or are very old.

That's why I believe so much in the power of photography and to capture a memory for posterity, really that's where this whole initiative of retro diaries comes from. Save all these memories to take a look at them in the future and move for a moment to that time.

That is the true importance of creating memories through the lens of a camera and, I think that is also a beautiful gift for our children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. And it is a beautiful gift, to leave as a memory all those places we knew in our youth, how we looked and what emotions it transmitted to us back then, it is like the art of telling a story.
