Not An ideal Spot For Fishing

We went to a green piece of dash surrounded by blue and found a cool zig-zaggy bridge to double cross.

A Long John Silver Bridge from the future❗️

IMG_6593.jpeg

Not really.

John Ulmer - '99.

IMG_6594.jpeg

It crossed a creek on a footpath
With parts that zigged and zagged
On the other side was a painter
Who identified as ave

It had an arrow pointing left
Depending where you stand
To a sign that said outdoor fitness
And
something else
in black

IMG_6595.jpeg

There's a basketball hoop.

IMG_6596.jpeg

And a tractor tire.

IMG_6600.jpeg

IMG_6604.jpeg

IMG_6602.jpeg

And a creek that looks like dishwater.

My wife's always saying something something something something about how I let Atlas be a dog.

Laps around the aquarium at Bass Pro Shops, eat the apple core she found at the park, koi fishing in the fountain at the golf course—perfectly acceptable behavior. This day, however, I wouldn't even let her get her feet wet.

It's not mud or rain run off. I don't know what it is but it's gray and smells a lot like wrong.

IMG_6601.jpeg

So, we stayed in our lane, posed occasionally for glamor shots and snapped photos of things like a hillside under so many layers of ivy I couldn't see the hill or the side.

IMG_6607.jpeg

IMG_6608.jpeg

Tree monsters.

IMG_6609.jpeg

That's what Pura calls it when ivy completely overruns the power pole or light fixture or whatever used to be there.

IMG_6612.jpeg

Rrrr.

IMG_6610.jpeg

I snapped this next one because I liked it. Open meadow at sunrise. Pointed and clicked for no reason other than I liked it.

IMG_6613.jpeg

IMG_6614.jpeg

Same with that tree. It's not like the rest of the forest. Some centuries ago, lightning hallowed it out like celery and I like celery.

Smells like feces.

Dishwater Creek, that is. The further we distance ourselves from it, the less it smells toxic.

IMG_4350.jpeg

You know, typically I'm not a big fan of signs, astrological or otherwise. They picture well, sure, and say a lot, too, that's not it. I just think we could use less Do Not's and more Proceed With Caution's.

Handle With Care instead of Don't Touch or Enter At Your Own Risk instead of Keep Out, stuff like that.

No such thing as too many, however, when it's meant to bring public awareness to all of the various feces that makes Dishwater Creek unique. In that case, wherever you turn to look, there should be one like an AR-15 at chin height in Rome.

Instead there's just one. Rusted out and barely legible, looks about as old as that tree.

Thank you Joan. I'm glad you liked this one. At times the creek was rushing and looked deceiving. Glad we didn't start there!

That one was me, too. For the reblog.

And they looooovve it! Mud and water aren't much different to them.

To us, however, I'm always making weird faces and sounds a half second too late like oeeeww!!! when, out of the entire baseball field, she found the one ankle deep mud hole. = }

I was gonna attach a gif about someone falling in mud or something so I searched "mud bath gif." That's it! Three words.

I had no idea they'd navigate me to so many inappropriate mud gifs.

Ibomvu (orange clay) offers protection from the sun in KwaZulu-Natal, cheapest sunscreen used by locals here, used on hands and arms to protect from harmful UV rays when working outdoors.

All animals suffer from sunburn including land mammals, elephants, rhino, hippo, warthogs. Sea animals feel affects whales, dolphins have natural ways of treating, unless beached.

We humans tend to spend...., everything out of a bottle saying Factor 50+ protection, mud will do the trick if ever caught short in the bush!

Wow, yep… you don’t want to come in contact with that water.
Good you kept her out of it.
There should be more warnings around that creek.

Aawww how beautiful she is 🥰 grown so much.

The tree monsters do look like monsters taking over everything. If we would let nature go ahead… all structures will turn to just that.

Hope the new month started well for all 3 of you 👋🏻😊

Good morning! I'm so late getting to my replies, it's morning now.

Yesterday was SO busy. Started by getting a new screen on my phone cuz I'm a cheap bastard who won't buy a new phone until the current one no longer works. I keep Bandading it in the meantime. It wouldn't charge either. Got that fixed too. Now it works just like a 7 year old phone again!

Ain't she just the adorablest?! She'll be 10 months old on the 13th. She's maxed out at a healthy weight—74 lbs. She makes everything great. In case you can't tell, I can hardly stand her! = }

:confession: I call them tree monsters too.

Thank you LittleBee.

Good morning to you 👋🏻😊
A bit late with replying myself. We had some busy days too.
Had to go with the car to a testing center for importation and paperwork check.
Their system didn’t work fully… so we need to wait for a code to be send now for the next steps. Mondays bank holiday doesn’t help either. So we hope we get it Tuesday… can return Wednesday and have next week the new number plates.
Still waiting for my Irish drivers license since 31 May… have none at the moment as had to send my Maltese one in. Hahaha the fun things from moving countries.

Good you still could fix it for now. I upgraded my old phone end of last year. As it just didn’t work anymore. I tend to go a longgg time with my phones too. Think we talked about this before.

She is so cute 🥰 I can fully imagine. Enjoy it 🤗 give her a big !HUG from me.

You are welcome @dandays

Ireland is grant 😉
Hehehe 🤭
Still doing a lot of paperwork, but almost there.
Now we are searching for the right location to buy something. We changed our plans of buying a derelict/ vacant cottage to renovate toooooooooo building our own house our selves with natural materials. So we are looking for the perfect plot.
Will be exciting 🤓

How is your renovation going?
Have a wonderful weekend 👋🏻😊

Indeed, there is never nothing to do…

Have a great evening 👋🏻

Good morning, you! Glad you liked this one.

No, that's about her max weight, 74 lbs. She's such a great dog. Already got her hanging from the tree out back on the first strike. We practiced with the bite sleeve, teaching her how to bite by throwing it and wearing it like it's a toy. Just how, not when or why.

Barely a week into it, she was already leaving her feet to bite the sleeve I hang from a tree and suspends herself until I bring her down.

This is.. wait, danget, it was about a creek wasn't it?! = }

Makes for a quick round of foreplay...

What the heck is up my favorite Brit in Thailand? Good morning! Sorry for the long delay. It's supposed to rain the next couple days so we spent the past 40'ish hours doing things that required our phones stay in our pockets.

Isn't she just the cutest thing? So sharp, too. Really sharp. I can work a specific command with her maybe 10 times and, from then out, she's got it and works on perfecting it from there. I keep threatening to get the gopro—soon. Man, wait'll you see her in action now that she's bite trained.

Been a long time since I had a dog. We're reminded regularly how happy they make things.

Much love Nathen, thank you.

Go Pro footage or even drone footage of her in action would be amazing. I have a friend who was a police dog handler. What his German shepherd could do was incredible. I'd be happily stroking her one minute. The next, I'd be sat rigid on the sofa with him barking inches from my face and my mate pissing himself at my raw terror!

Pet owners are happy, nice people :-)

Hair growth, funny. I'm gonna do an article here in the next week or so and attach images and stuff. It's been a long, challenging healing process that has taken me to the worst corners of my mind. Now, though, I'm finally beginning to show progress.

My thumb, I'd say I got about 2-3% motion back which may sound pitiful but I've had ZERO function with it since February so I'll take it. And seeing how my index is a little farther away, it's just now barely starting to show signs of repair. Thank God! I'll take it. For awhile there, I wasn't sure I'd ever draw or write again.

So, it's gonna be awhile yet but all signs are pointing at recovery.

This is a long response again. = }

D and A. The 'ys' I added cuz DandA looks unfinished. It's my wife's name that starts with D, actually and my name is Arts.

Pleasure to be met, Ms Pants.

D and A

What I really want to know is if Atlas could fit inside that lightening hollowed out tree?

Wicked green carpeting of vegetation. Looks like Kudzu vine.

Disgusting dishwater creek that's somehow too familiar to me, even though I've never been to the green on that dashboard with blue surround.

Did you check that apple core for razor blades? Just asking.

The dash doesn't usually do that. Probably due for an update. The one that shows the brown in the blue.

Very selective. Ivy, that is. Outta all the poles to climb, look, see'em? It reeaaaly wants that one.

I know that you know that I know and now you know that I know that you know that I know.

If I got a car, first thing, that dash screen would hit the trash. Guess I'd be buying a way older model car, since I don't think it's as easy as rip out and trash it scenario.

Looks like kudzu vine fingers in that cool silhouette photo. You know that ivy and vines are not the same, right?

When you said lightening I about lost my shit like nooooooo!! thinking I messed up lightning.

Lightening is my focus. No wonder I didn't say lightning. Language spell castings confound, but never should cause you to lose your shite, unless....hmmm....not going there.

Since you brought it up!

We began bite training about three months ago. We're using a sleeve. I began with her first by slinging it across the yard so she gets into prey drive and latches onto it. That's teaching her how to bite, not when or why.

Well, she passed that and onto swinging 180 degrees from my arm when she bites the sleeve—passed that too. Now she's suspending from the tree on it. I'll hang it from a tree out back and she'll leave her feet to bite it, first strike-every time. Hangs there until I let her down.

Real shortly here I'll begin doing some recording with the GoPro and post it.

Nah, I can't hardly stand that dog in case you can't tell.

I enjoyed reading your post about your walk on Dishwater Creek. It sounds like you had a fascinating experience. I was particularly interested in your observations about the signs in the area. I agree that we could use more signs that warn people about potential dangers, but that also give them some guidance on how to proceed safely.

I also thought your descriptions of the area were very vivid. You did a great job of painting a picture of the scene with your words. The tree that had been hollowed out by lightning sounded particularly interesting.

Wow with that water and the sign you shared last, it should be placed at several spots there to avoid people having their dogs jump in or something. What a shame that it's so contaminated as it's a beautiful place to walk. That is if you don't count the smell :)

Thank you.

Whaddup? How's the back?

0

0.000
avatar

Damn, dogs these days are spoiled!

About the back, I can say that I felt quite ok for a few days until I saw the trauma doc who gave me other meds. Pain came back full force and drove me nuts (seriously, it was worse than before).

I went crawling back to my general doctor to ask her if she could fill me up with a Tramadol prescription until I can see the other doctor again, as this guy apparently is on holiday (the audacity, holiday during the summer!?) until the end of the month.

He referred me for an X-ray as well as MRI scan, and I was hoping to see him right after these two were completed, too bad for me it's not possible. But the general doctor was very easily prescribing 2 more boxes of this heavy shizzle so that I can get through these weeks.

I'm trying to find a way to not be affected by it too much as some moments it's like I'm on drugs. Oh wait, this is drugs lol. You get the drift, I don't like this feeling much because it comes in waves and there are hours that I just can't keep my eyes open. I just give in to the feeling now, it is what it is for a few weeks.

I'm not trying to worry about what's causing it too much because the general doc can be right with the sciatica diagnosis while it can also be worse. I hope for the least shit option, obviously but can only wait until that's clear.

Fingers crossed and thanks for asking! <3

0

0.000

I've dealt with that sciatica longer than I can remember. Only thing that ever helped me was rest. Massages always sped up the recovery process and having a good chiropractor to maintain alignment regularly helps. Not one that uses their hands, though. The kind that use one of those spring loaded tools that looks like a marker and a computer.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Rest, what is that? I hate that lol, seriously, when I sleep during the day as I just can't keep my eyes open (may it be from being exhausted from overdoing anything, or from the heavy meds I have now) I really feel like I wasted precious time.

I've never been to a chiropractor myself but read good things, just think it's a bit scary haha. We'll see what the doc says end of the month and then look at the options for whatever is causing it. I'm open to trying a chiropractor or acupuncturist for sure, especially if the word surgery would fall out of the doc's mouth as I don't even want to think about that being optional.

How's your weekend been so far? We had 2 failed attempts getting into a swimming pool, pfff, these Spaniards and their weird rules and ways of handling things. Will rant about that later as I don't want to be too negative now :) lol

Have a good one!

Pretty hot out there right now. Gotta take Atlas out real early and wait til evening if anything needs done outside. Gonna be like this another couple weeks.

Doctors and chiropractors don't see eye to eye. Write that one down. By don't, I mean never. One uses tools, the other's merely a drug dealer when they're not in the operating room and each thinks the other's a quack.

Ahh, Life.

What's the temp over there? It's about 35 degrees Celsius over here or a little more some days I noticed but it doesn't feel as shit as the weeks in July when the humidity went up to 90% at least (from what I saw). I felt the same as you mention above, get out early, lock yourself up until it's possible to breathe again outside, haha.

I remember something from the past where doctors and acupuncturists also don't get along well. But I truly believe these alternative medicine things can do wonders and often be better for one. Of course, the first thing I reach out to is the regular doctor, but if I can get relief from one of the alternative ones over being drugged up for longer periods of time I know which one I pick for sure.

But fair enough, there are a lot of quacks out there as well, lol. But regular docs need to keep satisfying big pharma obv :)

Hows your recovery going? Seeing improvement?

Slow. It's a process. Never really had to wait for nerve regeneration like this. Both my index and my thumb have been froze up for so long, they're trying to fuse solid. The only reason I know the nerve is regenerating is cuz I can make my knuckles hurt now. They won't move, my hand is still useless, but I can make myself feel something in the knuckles. Guess it's gonna continue at this pace another year'ish. I'm a lot better at doing things with my left hand now than I was in February.

It'll be in the 90's another couple weeks so, 32-35 celsius. Right now it says 92% humidity out there. Yuck.

At least there is progress! I hope at some point it goes a bit faster than you thought but otherwise, slow is the way to go. Not much you can do about it anyway but accept it, I guess.

Oh yay, 92%! Hate those days! We have a warning for extremely high temps as well but just 30-33 degrees Celcius and currently 24% humidity, which even says Ideal humidity lol.

I would be very pleased if there won't be another High humidity flare up this August, but I almost can't believe August is more pleasant than July this year, so probably calm before the real storm ;)

Stunning walk - the greenest green. Your hound looks dope! Wonder what's below all that ivy?.. I'd imagine some big spiders lmao.. who've understandably made it their homes.

So sad about the stream, though. I guess you'd have to be very careful with Atlas there.

Thanks mate for the super interesting post. Your photos are awesome. Stay safe.

Definitely didn't suck.. just that stream spoiled what looked like paradise. Once again, mankind touched something else, so no surprise. Didn't think bout snakes, but now that you mention it.. last summer, we had a massive boomslang in our garden, so very plausible!

Thanks for the dope welcome.. mate, that would be awesome! I've had a rough few years and trying to pretty much start from scratch - hoping for my Hive journey to one day be sustainable. #here's2hoping

Kinda feels a bit like the wildwest tho lmao.. I need a few sheriffs ahahahahaha #emphasisonafew

I've made a few awesome buddies so far which is a welcome relief.. wouldn't mind you in my court too.. you look like a sheriff, and as you know I need a few ;).. You on discord, telegram etc.? ..

Keep well mate.

I can't not think of the hissing things. They're all deadly to me. People will be like "oh, it's a kissy face snake" or the worlds friendliest snake yata yata.. They're all deadly to me.

You'd be surprised man. Compared to the old days, it's pretty tame around here now.

Where are you from? I'm from Long Beach, California. Pleasure to be met.

No sweat. I clcked your favorite button. Now don't disappoint!! = }

I used to be petrified of all spiders, bugs, snakes etc. Then one day I just put a little tub over one which wondered inside, gently slid a piece of cardboard underneath and took the creature out side. Repeating this process over and over, I eventually lost my fear for the critters. I started looking at them closer and realizing that they were simply lost (kinda like me). Now I adore all nature. So yeah.. I guess it's kinda like I've learned to respect them. Don't get me wrong, I don't intent to pick up a snake anytime soon.. but I'm quite content letting the little guy be happy in his tree.

Wow, the old days must have been pretty hectic hahahahaha.. I can just imagine some fella's diving under the tables in the saloon.

California - must be incredible. I get to see your side of the word on tv shows #americandream . I live in Cape Town South Africa. Cape Town is stunning, but the country is battling. We live with rolling blackouts, corruption, potholes over much of the country (though not so bad the side where I'm hiding).. lots isn't working well.. it's really sad tbh.

Now with regards to my fav button lmao.. I've got so many of them haha - so not sure which you may be referring to. I like the "follower" one, the "favourite" one.. the "hive.vote" one.. the "upvote" one. Perhaps there's more I don't yet know about haha. So I'm not sure which one you're referring to, though cheers for whichever button it is/was! #legend #friend

Firstly, I love your analogy. As many places we've been, unfortunately not SA (yet), I've discovered all I really want is to be somewhere I don't want to leave. Man, I do the same things with "critters."

Secondly, I laughed out loud about the favorite button. Dude that's funny. Click my profile pic, right by where you clicked follow, you'll see there's another button, add to favorites or whatever it says.

Now I'm alerted to your content.

Ah, so you were referring the the actual "Add to favorites" Lmao (which is one of my favourites as you now know) haha. You're already in mine, so stoked to know that I'm in yours as well :) - Keep well my friend.

Your comments are nothing short of a blog post.

That was supposed to be a dude on a computer putting together a blog post and somehow I got a cartwheel cartoon which is worlds apart from cartwheel God whom I found thanks to a typo in the search bar. You might be surprised by the number of cartwheel God's on the internet, by the way.

Doooooppe! Man, that's cool. Not that but she does already leave her feet to bite the sleeve. I'll swing her 180 or as far as I can, she's bite trained now. I hang it from the tree, too, an old Dogwood out back, she leaves her feet to bite it and will suspend in the air until I let her down.

I keep meaning to begin filming and posting that here, too, which reminds me... I need an SD card.

It looks like a very nice and quiet place, it gives a very nice atmosphere being surrounded by so much nature and that beautiful German shepherd.
