Around the town, Cangas de Onis - Asturias Part 2 🌉
Bienvenidos a mi Blog.

On my trip to Asturias, one of the places I loved most was Cangas de Onís. It is a very small and welcoming town where everyone greets each other, and it has places where you can admire nature and go unnoticed in a busy world like the city.

Their picturesque little houses reminded me so much of the clay pots that grandmothers used to hang on the porches of their houses, it somehow made me feel at home.

In the afternoon, as we walked through the village, we caught sight of such a picturesque sunset that it adorned the sky above the Roman bridge in an incredible way. There was an event at a restaurant just below, and the hanging lights cast a beautiful glow over the place. It was impossible not to capture that moment with those colors in the sky.

You can get lost for a while if you decide to leave the village, as there are paths that lead to other small villages, and in 30 minutes' walk you'll be looking at mountains with lots of animals. There were lots of open houses with cows, dogs, and chickens that seemed to be used to tourists and weren't afraid to let you approach them to pet them.

It is very easy to explore and see everything in one day. Even though the town has a population of 6,000, it seems much more populated because there are many tourists almost all year round, according to reliable sources (the grandparents who had breakfast with us every morning, haha).

The center has many restaurants and bars, souvenir shops, and other stores that create a nightlife atmosphere for tourists and even those who live there. Every night we went out, all the places were full, the food is incredible—I have a special post about typical Asturian food—and you feel very safe walking around even late at night.

The Roman bridge is one of the symbols of Asturias and appears on the coat of arms of Cangas de Onís. The cross hanging from the bridge signifies the victory of the Muslims in the Battle of Covadonga. It was declared a historic-artistic monument in 1931. It is the town's main attraction; everyone wants to take photos and be there at sunset.

There is a beautiful sign with a cross symbol that reads “MINIMA URBIUM, MAXIMA SERBIUM,” which means “Small town, great capital.” It is the most popular landmark for tourists, and as you can see, it makes for great photos.
