Ya estoy en mi país, Venezuela, y aún me quedan algunos paseos por reseñar en lo que fue mi estadía de tres meses en España, hoy le daré continuidad a Caminando Barcelona -España||Walking through Barcelona, Spain, un paseo que incluyó la visita a sus espacios tanto modernos como históricos.

Greetings, friends of @worldmappin.

I am now back in my country, Venezuela, and I still have a few walks to review from my three-month stay in Spain. Today I will continue with Walking through Barcelona, Spain, a walk that included visits to both modern and historic sites.

Luego de la larga travesía por el parque nos sentamos a descansar y a esperar a un amigo de mi hija que se uniría al paseo. El joven no tardó en llegar y resultó ser muy refrescante. En lo que me vio me abrazo con toda la confianza del mundo, como si fuese su mamá y esa alegría que puede dar el reencuentro con los nuestros, además de cariñoso resultó ser chispeante, juguetón y no sé si es que en algún momento trabajó como guía turística en la ciudad o simplemente que es curioso y conoce mucho de su historia lo que hizo al paseo muy interesante.

Después de los saludos lo siguiente fue buscar un lugar donde tomarnos unas cervezas para refrescarnos y seguir la marcha, nos dirigimos la Born, un barrio histórico de Barcelona con un pasaje bucólico y atractivo. Aquí es importante tener en cuenta que no es fácil encontrar un bar-restauran donde te dejen sentar si no vas a comer, después de dos intentos a la tercera, José Ángel, el amigo, se dispuso a convencer a la joven que atendía para que nos dejara consumir solo las cervezas y que no tardaríamos más de media hora, la joven accedió y tuvimos nuestro lugar.

After the long walk through the park, we sat down to rest and wait for a friend of my daughter's who was joining us. The young man arrived shortly after and turned out to be very refreshing. As soon as he saw me, he hugged me with all the confidence in the world, as if I were his mother, and with the joy that can come from reuniting with loved ones. In addition to being affectionate, he turned out to be lively, playful, and I don't know if he had ever worked as a tour guide in the city or if he was just curious and knew a lot about its history, which made the walk very interesting.

After the greetings, the next thing was to find a place to have a few beers to refresh ourselves and continue on our way. We headed to El Born, a historic neighborhood in Barcelona with a bucolic and attractive atmosphere. It's important to note that it's not easy to find a bar-restaurant where they'll let you sit down if you're not going to eat. After two attempts, on the third try, José Ángel, our friend, set out to convince the young woman who was serving us to let us just have a few beers and that we wouldn't be there for more than half an hour. The young woman agreed, and we had our spot.

Caminando por las calles del barrio te encuentras con la Catedral Santa María del Mar, la historia relata que fue construida por la gente del pueblo sacando las piedras del mar. Como pueden observar la gente se aglomera para adquirir entrada y conocerla por dentro, una visita guiada accediendo a sus terrazas puede costar 20 Euros, sin embargo, se puede entrar a ella por otra entrada.

Bordeándola encontramos este monumento en homenaje a los caídos en las luchas independentistas de los años 1713-1714, es una moderna antorcha que permanece encendida todo el año. Frente al monumento se encuentra la entrada a la Catedral del mar y las personas se concentran en esta puerta porque en algún momento la abren y pueden acceder al recinto sin costo.

Walking through the streets of the neighborhood, you will come across the Santa María del Mar Cathedral. History tells us that it was built by the townspeople, who took the stones from the sea. As you can see, people flock to buy tickets and see the inside. A guided tour with access to the terraces can cost 20 euros, but you can also enter through another entrance.

Next to it, we find this monument in homage to those who fell in the independence struggles of 1713-1714. It is a modern torch that remains lit all year round. In front of the monument is the entrance to the Cathedral of the Sea, and people gather at this door because at some point it is opened and they can enter the premises free of charge.

En nuestra caminata pasamos por edificaciones gubernamentales, plazas conmemorativas, llegando a una avenida, rodeada de una arquitectura que no rompe con la esencia de la antigua ciudad pero que tiene aires mucho más modernos. Hay detalles como las baldosas que cubren todas las aceras que es el logo de la ciudad creado por Gaudí.

En esta avenida fuimos a un local que los muchachos querían visitar para comprar sus antojos venezolanos, dicha tienda se especializa en importar productos de países latinoamericanos, hindúes, árabes, chinos y de otras latitudes. Fue gracioso verlos en su entusiasmo.

On our walk, we passed government buildings and commemorative squares, arriving at an avenue surrounded by architecture that does not break with the essence of the old city but has a much more modern feel. There are details such as the tiles that cover all the sidewalks, which is the city's logo created by Gaudí.

On this avenue, we went to a place the boys wanted to visit to buy their Venezuelan treats. This store specializes in importing products from Latin American, Indian, Arab, Chinese, and other countries. It was funny to see them so enthusiastic.

De allí pasamos al casco antiguo de Barcelona, entramos al museo de historia donde el amigo me mostró las columnas romanas del Forum de Barcino, nombre original de la ciudad, así como destellos de posteriores de la influencia árabe en la arquitectura local.

From there we went to the old town of Barcelona and entered the history museum, where my friend showed me the Roman columns of the Forum of Barcino, the original name of the city, as well as glimpses of the later Arab influence on local architecture.

Adentrándonos en estos espacios históricos llegamos a una pequeña y escondida plaza que da entrada a una antigua escuela que fue bombardeada durante la dictadura franquista en 1938, Los muros de la escuela no han sido reparados como un recordatorio no solo del hecho en sí sino de lo que puede representar una dictadura.

Venturing into these historic spaces, we came to a small, hidden square that leads to an old school that was bombed during Franco's dictatorship in 1938. The school walls have not been repaired as a reminder not only of the event itself but also of what a dictatorship can represent.

Ya para ir cerrando, si algo tiene esta hermosa ciudad es que el arte se siente por todas partes me encantas sus murales alocados, Los mensajes disrruptivos, sus músicos de calle que alegran el paso y todo lo que apunta hacia el amor romántico como este tierno dibujo o el gran mural del beso, otra obra conmemorativa, que recoge una gran frase: “El ruido de un beso no es tan ensordecedor como el de un cañón, pero su eco es más duradero” Oliver Wendell Holmes.

To conclude, if there is one thing that this beautiful city has, it is that art can be felt everywhere. I love its crazy murals, its street musicians who brighten up the streets, and everything that points to romantic love, such as this tender drawing or the large mural of the kiss, another commemorative work, which includes a great quote: “The sound of a kiss is not as deafening as that of a cannon, but its echo is more lasting” Oliver Wendell Holmes.

Ya para despedirnos nos fuimos a la zona moderna de la ciudad y buscamos donde almorzar, optamos por comida china y un almuerzo puede ir desde lo 7 euros hasta todo lo que le quieres agregar que va sumando y sumando nuestros platos salieron aproximadamante en 14 uros por persona. Después de comer nos separamos, ellos quedándose en Barcelona donde residen y nosotras, mi hija y yo, a tomar el tren para el pueblo que nos acoge. Torredembarra.

To say goodbye, we went to the modern part of the city and looked for a place to have lunch. We opted for Chinese food, and lunch can range from 7 euros to whatever you want to add, which keeps adding up. Our dishes came to approximately 14 euros per person. After lunch, we went our separate ways. They stayed in Barcelona, where they live, and my daughter and I took the train to the town that is our home: Torredembarra.

Finalizo con un dato curioso y funcional, el 24 de septiembre es el Día La Mercè, patrona de Barcelona, aunque toda la semana está llena de fiestas, exposiciones, conciertos, festivales, el día 24 todo tiene entrada libre.

I'll end with an interesting fact: September 24 is La Mercè Day, the patron saint of Barcelona, and although the whole week is full of parties, exhibitions, concerts, and festivals, on the 24th, everything is free.
