Just a Walk

Just a Walk with Shitty Photos

The more I walk through these streets, the more I fall in love with them.

It's a contradictory feeling. Another day in this city means one day less here.

Soon the time will come to say goodbye, so every chance I get, I walk around and enjoy every place.

And although I’m still young and already dream of returning one day, I prefer to live in the present.

Join me on another Shitty tour of Havana?

Unlike other outings, like this one:

Today we start near the Almacenes de San José (San George Warehouse), specifically at the Floating Dock.

The Floating Dock

The Floating Dock, was created following an initiative by Havana's historian, Eusebio Leal. It’s a lovely way to enjoy this area of the bay.

Of course, the locals adapted it and made it their own. Young people began to hang locks (as happens in other cities), and fishermen made it a meeting point.

From here, you can see Casablanca and the rest of the bay. The most impressive thing is the proximity of the cargo ships because you are literally over the water.

After the historian’s death, the dock was put under repair. Like everything in Cuba… Where did the funds go?

You have to walk with extreme caution; there are several areas where if you’re not careful, the least that can happen is that you twist your ankle. It's a shame to see it like this.

But let’s continue the walk.

I was heading towards the Almacenes de San José, but I ran into a friend who would take me in another direction.

It had been six years since we last saw each other, and well, she had changed a lot. Without thinking, we decided to sit down and catch up.

The chosen place was a café very close to the [Asia's House](.

I don’t remember the name, but I loved its Portuguese style.

Amid all the craziness and Cuban spirit, this place is perfect for stopping and enjoying good company.

The prices are quite affordable, with an espresso costing 80 CUP (0.2 USD)

They have various offers on drinks and food, much lower than the other cafés in the area.

One recommendation: head to the pastries shop on the corner, buy any sweet treat, and enjoy it with a delicious coffee.

The decoration and your company will do the rest.

As the #HiveAroundTheWorld began, I wanted to showcase Plaza de Armas in Hive, a place with so much history and perfect for spending a relaxing time just contemplating life.

There, I met up with my girlfriend; we bought some snacks and waited for the hottest hours of the day to continue our day together.

With the afternoon approaching, we still had a commitment, which I’ll tell you about in future posts.

As I say goodbye with this image.

Let me know in the comments.

For now, we’ll leave the walk here.

I needed to eat something, and that’s when I stopped taking photos.

But I promise we will continue discovering the beauty of Havana.

Read you soon!
