Late summer in Budapest

We used to stay in Budapest often in the past, but the last time we were there was 5 years ago, and it was so nice to be back even though it was only for a few hours. Budapest with its medieval buildings, a river flowing through the old town, many bars and restaurants, and way too many places to see has always reminded me of Prague.

Very old nightie + stripey blouse = beautiful, life-long dress!

Here's my latest garment - as near as completed' if not, finished perfectly-imperfectly! It came from the vintage (possibly rather historical!) heavy-natural-cotton night-dress. It was the kind of thing, monographed with the previous owner's initials, that one can imagine lasting a lifetime - then acting also as a burial shroud (!) If you read my post from a few months ago, this is the first of a pile of dresses that I was gifted indirectly, by someone gifting my neighbours who work in theatre in Naples;

Life is never short of adventure! | Sulu, Philippines

I hate to say this, but every good thing must come to an end. This will be the last leg of my ZamBaSulTa adventure covering the Province of Sulu. Just like Basilan, Sulu is accessible via ferry ride from Zamboanga City but this time, it's not a quick ride but an overnight one.

Moving around in this 9-day backpacking has been easy except for that grueling 18-hour boat ride from Tawi-tawi to Zamboanga. Right from the start, I made it clear that ZamBaSulTa is infamous for a lot of reasons (kidnapping, bombing, war, etc.). But among all the Provinces in this backpacking, Sulu was the strictest.

3 Peaks in the Swiss Alps - Day 1 Peak Mettelhorn

We usually do our mountaneering and hikes in Bulgaria because we have a lot of medium sized mountains close to us. But we have started a tradition, when the summer months come to go visit other countries and their most interesting peaks. This time we decided that it is time for a big upgrade and we headed straight for the Alps where the mountains are averaging 4000 meters and more. I personally do not have any experience with mountains over 3000 meters high, so it was going to be quite an adventure for me, my physical, and mainly my mental boundaries.
