Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

We have made it to the last weekend of 2023 and that also means we have made it to the final Caturday of 2023! Happy Caturday!

Currently a quiet slow and cold rain is falling outside, but otherwise it has been remarkably warm for this time of the year and there have been plenty of days with nice sunshine for me to take naps in!

According to the Dad-Hooman some of the days we have had recently have actually been record highs for this time of the year and I know he must be on to something because our heater in the house has hardly ever been running.

Do Cats Have Goals?

I am told this is the time of the year when you Hoomans like to "set goals" and make these "New Year's resolutions," which has made me ponder whether cats actually have goals...

I suppose I could make it a goal to nap more, and to beg for more treats or something like that... but according to the Dad-Hooman we should be thinking more in terms of goals related to our quest here in Hivelandia, like how much we want to progress in 2024 and how much we want to post and comment and frankly it makes me want to take a nap just to talk about it!

I'd rather be napping!

That said, I did have a dream/ambition a long time ago of eventually becoming "the Cat who would be a Dolphin!" As in, a Hive dolphin which I think currently requires about 5,740 Hive Power.

Of course, that's more than 2,000 from where I currently am, so that would be a very lofty ambition and it would certainly require us to be a lot more active. I don't know if that's a good thing to strive for or not.

Helping with the laundry!

The Dad-Hooman and I "did the math" on it, and he figures that in order to make that goal by the end of 2024 we would have to publish a new cat blog post four or five times a week, and really follow up with curation and commenting on other people's posts in order to make it.

Seems like a lot of work to me! I think I'd rather take it at my usual pace and put my "cash" earnings into the HBD savings program and earn a return for doing nothing at all! Seems like more the right speed for a cat!

But we haven't come to an agreement... yet.

Goal setting aside, we're all doing well! We're mostly going to have a quiet New Year's weekend, although the Hoomans have decided they are going to go out and visit a local hotel that is having a bit of a party, but that will only be on Sunday night.

As always, we'd like to remind all our cat loving friends out there that if you are planning to be away on Sunday night and you have cats... remember that the loud sounds from fireworks can scare us, to leave a closet door open so we have a safe place to hide and hang out!

All in all, we are very grateful for the year that has been and we would like to thank everybody who has visited and supported the CuratorCat blog these past 12 months! We hope to see you again in 2024!
