Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

I hope this week has been treating you well, so far! Around here we continue to enjoy the beginnings of summer.

Because we cats are much beloved, we also end up having lots of special days created just for us because we're so awesome!

One of these is coming up tomorrow — on June 4th — and it is "Hug Your Cat Day!" Yes, that's a real thing and although many cats don't really like being hugged, some of us do.

Interestingly enough, there are actually TWO Hug Your Cat Days, only a few days apart... we just learned this: There's International Hug Your Cat Day on May 30th, and then Hug Your Cat Day on June 4th.

Regardless, it's just a great day to pay a little extra attention to your feline friends and perhaps spend some more time with them either playing, or dishing out special treats, or just having them comfortably sleep in your lap!

We have not been able to determine who started Hug Your Cat Day, not when it began, but it seems to have been going for a while.

Regardless, we do highly recommend spending time connecting with cats because it has definite health benefits for Hoomans; sitting with a purring cat in your lap has been shown to reduce stress and lower blood pressure.

And if you don't actually have a cat handy, to hug?

Maybe it's time to make a visit to your local animal shelter to adopt a feline companion! If that thought has ever crossed your mind, we'd like to remind you that June is "Adopt a Shelter Cat Month!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communities!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
