Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

I hope this week has treated you well so far and that you are having good sunny spots in which to take lovely afternoon naps!

We wanted to take a moment to remind everybody that August 8th — which also happens to be Saturday and Caturday — is International Cat Day!

International Cat Day was created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. It was basically a day created and designated to raise awareness of cats, cat health, and for people to learn more ways to help and protect cats worldwide.

Although it is still the same holiday, International Cat Day has been managed by the International Cat Care charity organization since 2020.

This year's global campaign is centered around the theme and hashtag #ThinkCAT to promote better health, welfare and understanding for cats everywhere.

C stands for cat friendly care: encouraging people to learn gentle ways to interact with and handle cats whether they are at home, or at shelters, or at vet clinics, or even feral. Cats like a gentle and soft approach!

A stands for annual checkups: which is highly encouraged for cat lovers to schedule yearly vet visits so as to preempt any health issues early and keep pets thriving.

T stands for tips and advice: which encourages everyone with felines in their life to educate themselves as much as they can and learn what they can about how to create a cat friendly environment and make your cats happy in daily life.

August 8th also happens to be National Cat Day in Canada. Yes, Canada has its own celebration of all things feline, with its own day to celebrate and raise cat awareness and draw attention to ways to adopt and care for cats.

Of course everybody is also encouraged to share cat pictures and use the original #InternationalCatDay hashtag to celebrate with their cats. And if you can, donate to your local cat or pet shelter and other rescue organizations, or volunteer there!

Here at CuratorCat HQ we are always encouraging people to support animal shelters because everybody here at this house was originally a shelter cat!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
