Weekend Cycling Escape to Marina Barrage
Yesterday’s cycling adventure brought me to Marina Barrage, and even though this is a late post, I still wanted to share it because the experience was simply too good to keep to myself.

Since the weather was almost perfect, I didn’t want to waste the opportunity. I decided to rent a bicycle and head toward Marina Barrage for an afternoon ride. Although I still prefer using my own bike most of the time, there are days when a rental bike just feels more convenient. The biggest advantage is the flexibility. I can ride freely, stop whenever I want, and if I feel too tired later on, I can simply park the bicycle at a proper parking spot and take public transport home without worrying about bringing the bike back. That kind of setup gives me peace of mind and makes the trip feel more relaxed.

I also had a feeling that I might want to go somewhere else after cycling around Marina Barrage, so renting a bike was definitely the right choice for this trip.
Cycling around Marina Barrage on a weekend is such a good experience because the whole area feels full of life. This is one of those places where you can really feel the city breathing after a long work week. There were joggers, cyclists, families, couples, and groups of friends just enjoying the day. Some were exercising, some were taking slow walks, and others were simply hanging out by the water. The energy in the area was really nice. Busy, but not stressful. Lively, but still relaxing.

The pathway there is one of the best parts of the trip. It is smooth, wide, and very comfortable for cycling. That alone already makes the ride enjoyable, but what made it even better were the views along the way. Every few moments, there was another angle of the city skyline, another glimpse of the bay, or another spot worth stopping for a photo.
As soon as I reached Marina Barrage, the vibe became even more exciting. The first thing that caught my attention was the number of kites flying high above the lawn. It made the whole place feel cheerful and festive. There were also so many people having picnics on the grass, sitting with family and friends, chatting, eating, and just enjoying the weekend. Seeing that made me think that this would actually be a nice place to invite friends someday and just spend the afternoon outdoors.

One thing I really like about Marina Barrage is its design. The structure feels like a continuous ramp that rises from the ground all the way up to the roof and then brings you down again. It makes walking around the place feel like a smooth journey instead of just going from one point to another. And from different sections of the ramp, the city reveals itself in different ways. One moment you get a view of the bay, and in the next you see the skyline, the gardens, or the crowds below.

Of course, the highlight of the trip for me was Marina Bay itself. I just love the calmness of the water and how clean and open the whole area feels. Even with many people around, there is still something peaceful about it. I also saw a few kayaks out on the water, and honestly, I felt a little bit jealous because that is one of the activities I really want to try someday.
Overall, it was such a wonderful experience, and it reminded me again why I enjoy cycling so much. It lets me explore, take photos, enjoy the city, and turn an ordinary day into something memorable.
I definitely want to do this again soon.
See you on my next cycling adventure!

I love the atmosphere, I love the shots. The calmness and less populated the area is is very well satisfying.
Cheers
