Strolls, Streets, and Snaps: A Midweek Escape to Lavender Street
Earlier, I went on a long walk from Kampong Glam Park to the edge of Lavender Street. It took almost an hour, so I rewarded myself with a nice bowl of noodles at Lam's, a popular noodle restaurant. I shared a quick post about it on Ecency Waves. It was a fun walk, and I happily uploaded some snaps from it on PeakD Snaps as well. I suppose that's a great use case for Snaps—an ad hoc way to post about spontaneous moments in one’s life. I treat it similarly to a TikTok Story, which I also use frequently. It's very convenient: just snap and post. It only takes a few seconds, especially since the background sound is added instantly and automatically.
The reason I went for a walk today is that it's the middle of the work week, and I'm already feeling the stress. I’ve also been eating more than usual over the past few days because of it, so I thought it would be helpful to burn off some of those extra calories by going for a walk. But in the end, I probably gained those calories back when I ate at Lam’s noodle restaurant. Still, I see it as a good reward for completing the walk, so I didn’t feel guilty afterwards.
So why did I choose Lavender Street? To be honest, I picked it at random. There’s not much about this area that’s as flashy or iconic as the spots in the city center or the major tourist attractions. It’s more about the local scene. But for those who haven’t really explored the deeper layers of Singapore, it offers a unique experience.
Places like this feature a blend of tradition and modernity, showcasing both old-school charm and contemporary architecture. I’d categorize them as eclectic, and I find that exciting—because you never know what kind of surprises you’ll come across.
Exploring places like Lavender Street reminds me that even the less-traveled paths have their own charm and stories to tell. It’s in these quieter corners that we often find the most authentic experiences. I’m glad I took the time to wander—and I hope this inspires you to do the same.
Great pictures, looks like an interesting city.
Thanks! Indeed, it's multi-cultural city and that I think makes it interesting.
Cool.i didn't know Anytime Fitness is also available in Singapore
Yes, it's one of the biggest chain of gyms here in the city. 😁
But I don't have the patience to go to the gym so I just do some walking exercise 😄
