Positioning Early... From Halloween Shelves to Building on Hive
Earlier today, I went to the grocery store to buy a few things, and while walking around the nearby shops, something immediately caught my attention. One of the home supplies stores had already started displaying Halloween decorations!

Pumpkins, witches, ghosts, bats, and all kinds of spooky decorations were already filling the shelves. It made me realize that Halloween is getting closer... although technically, we still have almost two months before that day arrives. Hehe.

I guess this is quite normal here in Asia. Stores tend to prepare for holidays much earlier than expected. Sometimes it feels like we barely finish celebrating one occasion before the decorations for the next one start appearing.
Thinking about it more, I actually understand why stores do this.
From National Day until the next major holiday, there is a fairly long gap where stores don’t really have much holiday-themed merchandise to put at the storefront. So why not bring the Halloween decorations out early?

After all, colorful pumpkins, ghosts, witches, and other decorations are definitely more interesting than having an ordinary storefront for the next couple of months.
And I can already imagine what will happen next.
The day after Halloween, these decorations will probably disappear and Christmas trees, lights, ornaments, and Santa Claus figures will immediately take their place. LOL.
But while looking at those Halloween decorations, I somehow connected this simple observation to something completely different... our journey here on Hive.
Getting Into Position Before the Crowd Arrives
I think there is actually an important lesson behind stores preparing for Halloween months before the actual event.
They are positioning themselves early.
Instead of waiting until everyone suddenly wants Halloween decorations, they are already putting the products in front of customers. By the time demand increases, they are already prepared.
For me, the same mindset can be applied when building our stake on Hive.
Personally, I don’t think the best time to start accumulating an investment is when everybody is already excited about it. During a strong bull market, prices can rise very quickly, and it becomes difficult to know whether you are still early or already buying close to the top.
Meanwhile, early investors may already be thinking about taking profits.
That’s why I’ve always found bear markets interesting.
Of course, seeing prices declining isn’t exciting. Nobody enjoys watching the value of their holdings fall. But if you still believe in what you are investing in, a bearish period can also become a good time to slowly position yourself for the future.
And Hive gives us several ways to do that.
We can buy Hive.
We can continue posting and earning rewards.
We can curate content.
We can participate in games and other Hive-based projects.
And once we accumulate Hive, we can power it up and gradually grow our influence through curation or delegation.
I’ve written before about how consistency and compounding can matter more than trying to perfectly time every market movement. For me, that idea becomes even more important during periods when excitement around crypto is low.
Just Keep Building
Looking at Hive right now, it feels like we may already be somewhere around a bottoming area, although nobody can really know for sure.
The price could still move lower.
It could stay around these levels for a long time.
Or maybe the market will eventually turn around and Hive will participate in another bullish cycle.
That uncertainty is exactly why I don’t want to get too excited about predicting the next price movement.
Instead, I think the better approach is simply to keep building.
Just like those stores preparing for Halloween long before customers actually need the decorations, maybe this is our time to prepare before the market becomes exciting again.
Accumulate what we can.
Keep posting.
Keep engaging.
Keep powering up.
Keep supporting projects that we believe are helping the ecosystem.
Then, if the right market conditions eventually arrive, hopefully we will already be in a better position instead of rushing to catch up with everyone else.

Sometimes getting ahead isn’t about moving faster than everyone.
It’s simply about preparing earlier.
Hive on!
