New Year, New Shoes... A Sale-Day Mission at Changi City Point

New Year’s Day always feels like a blank page, fresh, hopeful, and a little bit tempting. This year, I decided to start it in the most practical way possible: bargain-hunting at Changi City Point. I’d heard the whispers of massive discounts (up to 70% off), and I wasn’t going to let that kind of rare promo slide past me.

My shopping list was very “future travels” focused. I wanted t-shirts and a jacket that I can easily pack for upcoming trips, plus a proper pair of running shoes. One of my goals this year is to boost my physical activities, so I told myself: get the running shoes first, and if the budget still smiles at me, consider another pair that’s comfortable for walking.

Before the hunt started, I took a small detour to breathe. One thing I appreciate about this mall is that it doesn’t feel like an endless maze. There are pockets where you can slow down, like the little “Oasis” area, greenery, a calm walkway, and a pond where the water turns the surroundings into soft reflections. For a moment, it felt less like a shopping trip and more like a mini city escape.

  • The Oasis corner, plants leaning over the pond like they’re guarding a secret.
  • A loud “up to 70% off” sign that instantly switches you into mission mode.

And then… Nike.

If you’ve ever walked into an outlet on a major sale day, you already know the energy. The store was busy, shoe boxes stacked like red bricks, and people moving with the urgency of travellers catching a flight. The promo was the kind that makes you look twice: an extra 50% off if you buy two pairs, on top of already, lowered prices. Even buying just one pair still got an extra 30% off. No wonder the place was packed.

The challenge wasn’t finding shoes, it was choosing them. Every shelf looked like a “steal,” and the fitting area felt like a tiny waiting room at peak hour. People took turns, laced up quickly, stood up, bounced a little, then either smiled in victory or surrendered the seat to the next person. It was crowded, yes, but also oddly fun. There’s a quiet camaraderie in a busy outlet: strangers pointing out sizes, swapping quick opinions, and giving that respectful nod when someone finally finds the perfect fit.

  • “2 for 50% off” signage everywhere, like a chant.
  • Rows of shoes displayed like trophies, each one daring you to try it.
  • My chosen pair sitting in the box, finally secured after the try-ons.

After checking out a few other brand outlets (and taking a quick food break, because shopping always turns into an eating adventure), I was reminded why Changi City Point has become my go-to mall for shoes. It’s not the biggest mall around, but it’s comfortable to walk, not usually too crowded, and the outlets here really commit to discounts, especially on special occasions like this.

By the time I finished looping through the stores, my legs were tired, ironically, from shopping for running shoes. But I was happy. I got what I came for, and it felt like a small but meaningful win for the year. New running shoes aren’t just gear; they feel like a promise, more movement, more energy, and more adventures waiting ahead.

If you’re planning your own sale-day mission, my only tip is: go early, bring patience, and don’t rush the fitting. Your feet will remember every decision.

Happy New Year, and may your 2026 be filled with good deals, good steps, and even better travels.

I wished for a sign to go to malls and gift myself new shoes and new clothes this new year. I think this is it. I have always been a giver but seldom give myself a gift I deserve. The promo was insane there I hope we have it in our local mall. Just 50% a good news then. Happy New Year @curamax❤️

I think you will love outlet malls in USA. Loads of choices and very good pricing.

I can imagine 😄 outlet malls in the US sound dangerous for my wallet… but definitely on my list someday.
