A Beautiful Evening Cycling Around Bishan
Sometimes, when I do not have my own bicycle with me, I simply rent an Anywheel bicycle and wander around a random estate in the city. Honestly, renting a bicycle is actually quite cheap, especially if you buy what they call a Bike Pass. I bought the 30-day pass which costs SGD 9.90, and if you use the bicycle every day within that period, it works out to only about SGD 0.30 a day. That is honestly a pretty good deal if you think about it. Not only does it help cut transportation expenses, but it also gives you a nice bit of exercise at the same time.

That is why I keep encouraging my friends to try it too, but it seems not everyone is keen on doing physical exercise just to get to places in the city, LOL.

Anyway, tonight I was able to cycle around the Bishan area, and I am really glad that I did, because the sky was absolutely amazing.

The sunset was glowing in rich shades of orange and red, and because it had rained in the afternoon, there was also a cool breeze in the air that made the ride even more enjoyable. It is the kind of weather that instantly makes cycling feel easier and more rewarding. No harsh heat, no overwhelming humidity, just the right kind of evening atmosphere to make you want to keep going.

I was already looking forward to the ride, but that sky really made the whole trip feel extra special.
As I followed the cycling paths leading toward Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, I realized that there were many spots along the way that were worth stopping for. It was not just about reaching the park itself. Even the journey there had little scenes that felt worth appreciating. That is something I really enjoy about cycling in Singapore. Sometimes the actual destination is only half the experience. The rest of the joy comes from the small discoveries you make along the route.

One of the views that caught my attention was the canal. It looked so neat and structured that it almost felt like a modern river designed right into the city. From the right angle, the water reflected the warm sunset colors like a mirror. It gave the whole place a calm and polished look, and I could not help stopping to take a few shots.
There is something about city reflections during sunset that always feels a bit magical to me. Even an ordinary canal can suddenly look cinematic when the sky decides to show off.

Another thing I appreciated was how many resting spots there were along the way. It made the route feel welcoming, not just for cyclists, but also for joggers, walkers, and anyone who simply wanted to sit down for a while and enjoy the evening. I like places like this because they make the city feel more livable. You can pause, catch your breath, and just watch the flow of people around you. Some were jogging, some were walking, some were cycling, and everyone seemed to be enjoying the cooler weather after the afternoon rain.
I think what made this ride feel especially memorable was really the sunset that came with it. I am already grateful any time I get to exercise and wander around the city, but when a beautiful sky appears at the same time, it makes the whole experience even better. It becomes one of those evenings that stays in your mind for a while, not because something dramatic happened, but because everything just felt right.

That is probably the biggest benefit of cycling for me. It allows me to explore more of my city in a much more detailed way. I notice things I might not have seen if I were just walking, and I definitely would miss many of these little moments if I were taking public transport. Cycling gives me freedom, flexibility, and a closer connection to the places I pass through. It turns the city into something more personal, something I can experience slowly instead of rushing through.
And nights like this remind me exactly why I enjoy doing it.
See you on my next cycling adventure!

This is such a beautiful sunset. Nice one man!
How's this "Anywheel" bike for cycling? The last time there was the rental bikes craze years ago, I found that the bikes offered were all really heavy and hard to ride around for long distances over different terrain.
