As summer approaches, Popular Festivals multiply in Portugal. All villages, towns and cities organize numerous religious and pagan festivals.
What I like most about these pilgrimages are the street vendors with very colorful balloons for the children, including myself 🤓
It fascinates me to see the kitsch balloons blowing in the wind, transforming the skies into a colorful flood of comic book figures, Walt Disney characters and superheroes. It reminds me of the universe of Pop Art and my childhood.

Com o aproximar do verão multiplicam-se as Festas Populares em Portugal. Todas as aldeias, vilas e cidades organizam inúmeras festas religiosas e pagãs.
O que mais gosto nestas romarias são os vendedores ambulantes com balões muito coloridos para as crianças, onde me incluo.
Fascina-me ver os balões kitsch ao sabor do vento, transformando os ceús num colorido inundado por figuras da banda desenhada, personagens de Walt Disney e super-heróis. Relembra o universo da Arte Pop e à minha infância.
