EDITORIAL
Nine months into my stay at HIVE, this is my contribution to promoting the form of communication I love so much: photography.

The various communities on HIVE show excellent photographic work on a daily basis, there's something for all tastes and sensibilities. Scrolling through them fulfills something I really enjoy doing, looking at other people's work. Part of the flow of my work involves looking at other people's photographs; I find it useful and important for my photographic culture. The more varied and heterogeneous they are, the better. “Everything influences everything”, said Andy Warhol. Everything inspires everything, I say. (In Portugal I am responsible for editing the photography magazine Um Ponto Dois - Nº 0 and Nº 1).

Every month I want to highlight publications with more than 10 photographs, which are consistent with each other and argue/support the portfolio concept.

Initially, I had planned 10 works, 10 photographers. But the FlipHTML5 platform, which hosts this form of viewing (flipbooks), is expensive. It charges around €282 per year. The free version limits the number of pages (only 56).

That's why this first issue of the magazine will only have 5 photographers. I'll try to get support, or some other cheaper resource, so that I can achieve my initial goal in the February issue.

CHOICE OF WORKS FOR THE MAGAZINE
The choices of these first five portfolios fit the number of photos wanted and the purpose of this magazine. They are very consistent, each one has its own brand, its own identity, which allows for diversity in the content offered by the magazine. They are also photographers who inspire me. I owe my stay at HIVE to them.

OBJECTIVES

• To encourage the publication of Portfolios (10 to 20 photographs).
• To make HIVE photographers visible to the “outside”, namely to galleries and photography magazines that are looking for authors on social media. Given that we are in web 3.0, interested parties (galleries and magazines) can negotiate directly with photographers without having to go through intermediaries.
• Attract more photographers to HIVE.
  

FUTURE
The future of this magazine will be proportional to your feedback. Sometimes we invest energy in projects that frustrate the expectations we had created. Other times, we are surprised by results we didn't expect. For now, I'm letting it flow and I'm already traveling through the photographic communities for content for the February issue.

Passados nove meses de estadia na HIVE este é o contributo que pretendo oferecer para promover a forma de comunicação que tanto aprecio, a Fotografia.

As diversas comunidades existentes na HIVE mostram diariamente excelentes trabalhos fotográficos, há para todos os gostos e sensibilidades. Percorre-las preenche algo que gosto muito de fazer, ver trabalhos dos outros. Uma parte do fluxo do meu trabalho passa por ver fotografias de outros autores, considero útil e importante para a minha cultura fotográfica. Quanto mais variados e heterogéneos forem, melhor. “Tudo influência tudo”, disse Andy Warhol. Tudo inspira tudo, digo eu. Mensalmente pretendo dar destaque a publicações com mais de 10 fotografias, que sejam consistentes entre si, e argumentem/suportem o conceito de portefólio.
Inicialmente tinha previsto 10 trabalhos, 10 fotógrafos. Mas a plataforma FlipHTML5, que acolhe esta forma de visionamento (flipbooks), é cara. Cobra cerca de € 282 anuais. Esta é uma versão free, limita o número de páginas (só 56).

Por isso, este primeiro número da revista terá apenas 5 fotógrafos. Tentarei apoios, ou outro recurso mais em conta, para que na edição de fevereiro consiga o intento inicial.

ESCOLHA
As escolhas destes cinco primeiros portefólios encaixam no número de fotos pretendidas e no propósito desta revista. São trabalhos bastantes consistentes, cada um tem uma marca, uma identidade muito própria, o que permite diversidade no conteúdo oferecido pela revista. Além disso, são fotógrafos que me inspiram. Devo a eles a minha permanência na HIVE.

Estimular a publicações de Portefólios (10 a 20 fotografias).
Dar visibilidade aos fotógrafos da HIVE para o “exterior”, nomeadamente para galerias e revistas de fotografia que tanto procuram autores nas redes sociais. Atendendo que estamos na web 3,0 os interessados (galerias e revistas) podem negociar diretamente com os fotógrafos sem passar por intermediários.
Conquistar mais fotógrafos para a HIVE.

FUTURO
O futuro desta revista será proporcional ao seu feedback. Por vezes investimos energia em projetos que frustram as espectativas que criamos, faz parte e há sempre um aprendizado. Outras vezes, somos surpreendidos com resultados que não esperávamos. Para já, deixo fluir e já estou a viajar nas comunidades fotográficas para conteúdo do número de fevereiro.
