Louhans exhibition
Yesterday, after the first exhibition, we stopped and looked around another neighboring exhibition. These were the 18 arhat or louhans of Gautama Buddha.
There was such a long period of time between their writing and workers and an artistic representation that their true characteristics were lost.
Until one monk dreamt about them one at a time. Since then, that has been the basis for their characteristics. As you can see in the pictures, their characteristics are exaggerated and are quite interesting. Here is a wiki link of your interested. Check out the roster for their names and specialities.
The first picture above is Long eye brow Lou Han (really).
This one is taming dragon louhan.
Finally, we have doorman louhan…I think. The Chinese at the exhibit describes him as Herculean and the wiki description is husky and strong.

They are the equivalent to Buddhist saints. I will soon make a post describing them all in Spanish.
