New Year New Camera

IMG_9915.png

I’ve been looking forward to sharing this with you all.

We have upgraded from our entry-level Cannon to a mirrorless touchscreen…the Sony a7IV.

There is so much to learn about this camera and we haven’t even came close to getting into it all. I can already tell you that I am extremely impressed with the quality of the camera and the amazing options it has for us to use. This camera has a bit of weight to it which makes our first camera feel extremely light lol.

I do love that you can pull out and flip the screen to keep it protected when not in use. I am currently playing around with the various autofocus features. Since we take a lot of group shots I need to find the best options to capture multiple faces in-focus.

Another feature I love about this professional grade camera is that I can do everything right from the screen. If I want to take a shot without looking into the viewfinder I can. It’s really cool seeing any changes I make to the setting in real time and it’s all right there in front of me.

The look and feel of this camera is definitely an upgrade from our Rebel T6. Don’t get me wrong, I still love and use that camera. As a matter of fact it’s what captured these shots of the Sony.

It’s exciting having more than one DSLR to play with and use for multiple purposes. It’s especially important to have a back up camera if something were to go wrong during a gig. Our Cannon will eventually be our “just in case”.

At first we were looking into upgrading with Cannon since that’s what we were used to. As you can see Sony won our hearts over 😄.

We owe a big thanks to @tattoodjay. Earlier last year I inquired about it asking him some questions about why he chose the particular model. He shared some helpful info about the mirrorless and why he went with Sony.

Before purchasing the a7IV we read about Sony being an expert in the field of mirrorless cameras whereas Cannon was more in the novice category. This along with what he shared helped us with our final decision. We went with what we thought would be a better investment and an improved performance for our photography business.

Thanks so much JJ for taking the time to help us out! That’s one of the beauties of Hive when you have fellow people that take the time to share knowledge based on experience. They don’t mind giving you tips and information that may better your craft.

A percentage of this post goes to you! 😉

Although I have a lot to learn about our newest toy I decided to take it out around the house to get a feel for it. Here are some of the shots I took…

Have you ever seen big foot and Frosty in the same post? Well there’s a first time for everything 😂…

I couldn’t leave out Frosty. Especially since we just had a big snow. Check out his feet. We put salt down on the porch but the snow wasn’t ready to fully leave him 🤭.

I can already tell I’m going to have a lot of fun with this one. I love learning the most by getting out there and just trying things on my own. However, I do plan to watch some videos that share tips and tutorials on how to get the best out of the camera.

Until I’m completely comfortable and confident with using it, our Cannon will still be the primary camera we use for work. Hopefully by Summertime I would have learned enough and practiced enough that the Sony will move into position of our master camera. I am so excited to explore this!! 😆

I’ll see you next time with more shots from the Sony!!

Thanks for Reading ~

Yes, it's always been one of the best aspects of Hive imo. Being here has helped me grow as a professional and I am so grateful for the friends I've made along the way.

True indeed. I am always looking for ways to improve my photography. I know that it won’t be possible with just getting new equipment but it’s learning how to make the most of it by learning and mastering its features. I am so ready to explore it all! 😃😆🤩

Happy New Year to you sweet lady. Thank you for the visit and comment. I hope your 2024 is off to a wonderful start ~ 🤗

Hayst.. I wish I could buy a DSLR camera this year.. It has been one of my wishes since 2021...but each time I save for it, something bad happens..then my saved money for the camera goes to it . How unfortunate I am, lol.

This looks beautiful. I'm actually listing good camera models in case I got enough money to buy one.. Hehe. I'll add this then..

I can totally understand this. This happens to us quite often too. It got to a point where I was like "what's the point of saving for something particular?" 🤷🏽‍♀️ It most always gets used for something else that comes up.

I didn’t think we would be upgrading anytime soon but thankfully one of our family members helped us out. They support our business and want to see us do well. I am so grateful for love and support.

I plan to do a more in-depth review later on where I will show more of the features. I’m glad you have this listed as one of your options and hopefully you can acquire one sooner than you think. 😉

Thanks for visiting ~

I truly hoped so..it's been a few years since I planned on buying it haha.. But of course, I always consider my priorities more than my wants.
Looking forward to reading your review..

With a professional camera and shooting is more pleasant - you can implement your ideas.

That is what I'm really looking forward to. Being able to take crisper shots along with my editing skills I think we are in for some great work.
