Hace unos días, creo que más de un mes para ser más precisa, empecé a ver algunos videos en vivo de una maestra tejedora que sigo por las redes sociales; comencé a verla por facebook y ahora la sigo también por Youtube. Lo que me gusta de ella es que sus transmisiones son muy amenas, además de dar buenos tips para tejer también tiene una charla agradable sobre temas variados. Quiero decir que mientras va tejiendo y dejando instrucciones también cuenta algunos chismesitos, anécdotas y esas cosas. Al menos a mí me oxigena el cerebro. Entonces cuando quiero sentirme acompañada mientras tejo busco sus videos en vivo.

A few days ago, I think more than a month to be more precise, I started watching some live videos of a master knitter that I follow through social networks; I started watching her on facebook and now I also follow her on Youtube. What I like about her is that her transmissions are very enjoyable, besides giving good tips for knitting she also has a nice chat about various topics. I mean that while she is knitting and leaving instructions she also tells some gossip, anecdotes and stuff. At least it gives my brain some oxygen. So when I want to feel accompanied while knitting I look for her live videos.

La cuestión es que de entre todos sus cursos que dicta me encantó uno y quise realizarlo, pero a mi ritmo. Es decir, sin sumarme al grupo de participantes ya que ella es bastante estricta con los tiempos y yo no puedo andar de afán porque en vez de disfrutarlo me ocasionaría estrés y eso lo evito a toda costa.

He dedicido mostrarles mi proyecto y sus avances por partes: en esta la PARTE I les contaré algunos detalles sobre el inicio, razones por las que lo elegí y cómo me ido organizando.

The thing is that among all her courses I loved one of them and I wanted to do it, but at my own pace. That is, without joining the group of participants because she is quite strict with the times and I can not walk around in a hurry because instead of enjoying it, it would cause me stress and I avoid that at all costs.

I have decided to show you my project and its progress in parts: in this PART I I will tell you some details about the beginning, reasons why I chose it and how I have been organizing it.

Estuve atenta a cada una de las transmisiones en vivo de la maestra, aunque para serles sincera casi nunca las ví en vivo, sino que cuando ya estaba desocupada buscaba su video del día y lo veía tranquilamente.

¿De qué se trata este curso? Este curso se basa en mostrar el paso a paso para elaborar una número generoso de Granny que la maestra seleccionó previamente. Yo conocía algunos Granny, sin embargo en su mayoría desconocía los nombres. Este fue el primer aprendizaje que obtuve de este curso.
Una vez que concluyó todo el curso fue cuando decidí hacer un Álbum para mi uso personal. Estoy encantada con los grannys desde que tejí el primero, pero no he sido organizada con ellos. He tejido un montón de Granny y he elaborado con ellos variados proyectos, no obstante siempre que quiero tejer uno nuevo empiezo a buscar entre las fotos descargadas de la web o en páginas de tejidos.
Todos los grannys mostrados en el curso me gustaron. A excepción de dos o tres, que se los mostraré en próximas publicaciones.

I was attentive to each of the teacher's live transmissions, although to be honest, I almost never saw them live, but when I was not busy I would look for her video of the day and watch it quietly.

What is this course about? This course is based on showing the step by step to elaborate a generous number of Granny's that the teacher previously selected. I knew a few Granny's, however I was mostly unaware of the names. This was the first learning I got from this course.
Once the whole course was over I decided to make an Album for my personal use. I have been delighted with Grannys since I knitted the first one, but I have not been organized with them. I have knitted a lot of Granny's and have made various projects with them, however whenever I want to knit a new one I start looking through pictures downloaded from the web or knitting sites.
I liked all the grannys shown in the course. Except for two or three, which I will show you in future publications.

Lo primero que hice fue buscar mi carpeta de tejidos. En ella guardo algunos gráficos y muestras de puntos tejidos. Organicé todo, coloqué hojas limpias en la carpeta y di por iniciado mi proyecto. Ah, salí a comprar resaltadores porque los que tenía ya estaban secos y aproveché de mandar a imprimir los primeros 10 Granny del curso. Preferí tenerlos impresos ya que constantemente estoy limpiando la galería de mi teléfono y porque además surgió la idea de usarlos en la organización del álbum.

The first thing I did was to find my knitting folder. In it I keep some charts and knitted stitch samples. I organized everything, placed clean sheets in the folder and started my project. Oh, I went out to buy highlighters because the ones I had were already dry and I took the opportunity to print the first 10 Granny's of the course. I preferred to have them printed since I am constantly cleaning the gallery of my phone and because I also had the idea of using them in the organization of the album.

Todos los días abría la carpeta y veía cada uno de los gráficos, no estaba segura por dónde comenzar. La maestra los presentó por número. Todos los gráficos los puedes encontrar en su canal de Youtube en la sección Comunidad. Búscala como Tejiendo con Taxs.

Every day I opened the folder and looked at each of the charts, I wasn't sure where to start. The teacher presented them by number. You can find all the charts on her Youtube channel in the Community section. Search for it as Knitting with Taxs.

¿Por qué realizar un album de Granny? Mi idea es tener organizado al menos estos primeros 10 Granny. Es más cómodo, fácil y rápido encontrarlos en mi carpeta que volver a buscar por la web o en la galería. Además en un futuro esta carpeta podría ser de utilidad para otras tejedoras.

Why make a Granny album? My idea is to have at least these first 10 Granny's organized. It is more comfortable, easier and faster to find them in my folder than to search again on the web or in the gallery. Besides, in the future this folder could be useful for other knitters.

Como les acabo de mencionar todas las impresiones de los gráficos las guardé en mi carpeta, pero me estaba olvidando de ellos 😌 por lo que busqué mi cartelera de corchos y la usé para tener a la vista este primer grupo de Granny y elegir más fácilmente cual voy a tejer. Por supuesto que es un proyecto a largo plazo porque quiero hacerlo según el tiempo disponible y las ganas que tenga de tejerlos. A veces quiero tejer proyectos cortos para pasar el rato, así que este me parece excelente para ese propósito.

As I just mentioned to you all the chart prints I saved them in my binder, but I was forgetting about them 😌 so I reached for my cork board and used it to keep this first set of Granny's in sight and more easily choose which one I'm going to knit. Of course this is a long term project because I want to do it according to the time available and the desire I have to knit them. Sometimes I want to knit short projects to pass the time, so this one seems excellent for that purpose.

¿Dónde y cómo los voy a organizar? La verdad es que mi idea inicial es guardarlos todos en la carpeta, pero ya que he ido adelantado creo que buscaré otra estrategia para tenerlos a la vista al momento de necesitarlos. Por los momentos los que voy tejiendo los coloco en una hoja blanca, identifico con su nombre (el que les dió la maestra), resalto algunos detalles y en la parte de atrás de esa misma hoja fijo el gráfico impreso.

Where and how am I going to organize them? The truth is that my initial idea is to keep them all in the folder, but since I've already made some progress I think I'll look for another strategy to have them in sight when I need them. At the moment, the ones I am weaving I place them on a white sheet, identify them with their name (the one the teacher gave them), highlight some details and on the back of that same sheet I fix the printed chart.

Estoy muy emocionada ejecutando mi proyecto. En esta primera parte te doy a conocer mi idea de crear un álbum, quizá te animes y quieras hacer el tuyo. Para estas primeras muestras estoy usando hilos pabilos, es un hilo de algodón delgado. Me gusta porque así los Granny no quedarán muy grandes y ocuparán el espacio justo en la hoja. Los colores con los que he ido tejiendo son los disponibles en mi alacena, quizá para el próximo grupo pueda variarlos.

I'm very excited to execute my project. In this first part I will show you my idea of creating an album, maybe you will be encouraged and want to make your own. For these first samples I'm using pabilos thread, a thin cotton thread. I like it because this way the Granny will not be too big and will take up just the right amount of space on the sheet. The colors I have been knitting with are the ones available in my cupboard, maybe for the next group I can vary them.
